Justin Lin Not Returning to Direct "Fast and Furious 7"

Justin Lin Not Returning to Direct "Fast and Furious 7"Submit Comment
Justin Lin has directed the last four installments in the "Fast and Furious" franchise, which was rejuvenated with "Fast Five" in 2011 and is expected to break records with "Fast and Furious 6" later this year.

Since Universal Pictures has less franchises than any other studio, it's attempting to capitalize on "Fast and Furious" as much as possible. So the goal is to have "Fast and Furious 7" in theaters during the summer of 2014, which is something Lin isn't happy with.

That would mean that Lin would have to be in pre-production on "Fast and Furious 7" while being in post-production on "Fast and Furious 6." The director feels that the studio is rushing things and will not end up with a quality product. As a result, he has decided to drop out.

Universal is now searching for another director, with a decision expected as early as next week.

I'm sure that Rob Cohen or John Singleton could use the work.

The milk franchise has begin to rot. Heck, even Justin lin doesn't want to drink it anymore.

As McG waits by the phone.

Good instincts. Or, simply good common sense. He's had a great run with the past films of the franchise. He's proven his indie roots, his technical polish as a big budget director and his ability to turn a profit for the studios.

But now the studio in question is beginning to ruin a good (as in, profitable) thing with the typical, mindless, premature ejaculation that befalls any major studio whenever they take a winning franchise past its limits with a too-much-too-soon, factory produced overkill.

The latest Fast and the Furious movie coming out this summer already looks like it should be the last, like they should end when they’ve still got all the chips. Except Universal clearly doesn’t know when to walk away from the table. But Lin does. Again, good for him.

He’s got some commercial backing now, so maybe he’ll move on to greener pastures, or, as mentioned, revive another flailing franchise like Terminator.

Fast Five was the best movie in the series.

Fast and Furious 6 looks awesome but still Justin Lin not returning for Fast and Furious 7 is not good.

In my opnion, the studio is rushing things and will end up destorying F&F 7.

I mean what movies have been rushed and turned out to be a total sh*t.

I didn't give a f*ck before he left and I still don't give a f*ck now.

The only good thing he ever did was "Finishing the Game". Everything else is sh*tty.

Bettel Ruck Tomollow was a good movie.

Meh. I hear his name quite often, and why? Because he raised the proverbial bar on a sh*tty car-chase movie franchise by adding in more action scenes compared to the previous four films in that particular franchise? So what? Terminator 4 was better than Terminator 3 in almost every conceivable way, and if McG had somehow cast Arnie, it would have been that much more superior; and yet, no one is mentioning McG on a daily basis.

Tired of hearing about this guy. Until he does something worth a damn, something beyond rejuvenating a god-awful film series, I'm not interested in any of his projects, not that he should give a sh*t.

I'm kinda curious what Lin would do with the GI JOE franchise....

Because that GI Joe: Electric Boogaloo was mediocre at best...and I'm being generous here.
