New "Pacific Rim" Posters Show Two More Giant RobotsSubmit Comment
A few days ago, Warner Bros unveiled a poster for Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming sci-fi film "Pacific Rim," giving us a look at Coyote Tango, a robot that Japan built to fight monsters in the movie. And today, we have posters for Russia's Cherno Alpha and China's Crimson Typhoon. Check everything out below.

Plot: When an alien attack, in the form of giant monsters, threatens the Earth's existence, giant robots piloted by humans are deployed to fight off the menace.

The new movie stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman. It's scheduled to hit theaters on July 12th.

My faith in giant robot live action films or any anime style ported over to live action is very shaky at best. Obviously, this would have been a much better anime project. But I truly hope this works.
The problem is the speed of things. In anime, you can show giant robots fighting at breakneck speeds and be fine. In live action, they're usually slowed down which takes so much away from it. But when they do speed up, the CGI looks hokey and ridiculous.

I'm excited at the potential of this movie. It's certainly the most prestigious giant monster OR giant robot movie ever made by far. I think there is a groundswell of fans all around the world that have been waiting for a high quality blockbuster effort like this to come along and do the genres justice.

I'm still waiting for the robots that represent Poland and Canada. One will have screen doors for the c*ckpit hatch while the other's primary weapons will be loud speakers that blast Bryan Adams. Cue laughing monsters.

@Cannon lol

Robots, dinosaur-ish monsters...if they somehow were to get pirates in this thing, it would clear $2 billion easy.

"while the other's primary weapons will be loud speakers that blast Bryan Adams."

Or Celine Dion.

Anyway, cool robots. We'll see though if the film lives up to the "posters" posturing.

The robot from Greece has yet to be completed due to budget constraints

I heard the Chinese robot is a obvious rip on the UK robot. Britain considered suing under international copy write laws but let's honest, when has China ever cared about copy writes?

No robot for Thailand?

They could name it "Fivedolla".
