Dwayne Johnson Wants to Join "Star Wars: Episode VII," Reveals His "Hercules" Look

Dwayne Johnson Wants to Join "Star Wars: Episode VII," Reveals His "Hercules" LookSubmit Comment
Dwayne Johnson has several films coming out, which means that he's out speaking to the press and answering questions about his future projects. In a recently interview with ComingSoon, the actor spoke about a franchise that he would like to join and his look in the upcoming "Hercules" movie.

"'Star Wars,'" said Johnson about the franchise he wishes he could join. "And that’s not to say that they need it. Obviously they're doing very well. JJ [Abrams] is just gonna crush it. I'm so excited."

The actor then pulled out his cell phone and showed several reporters a photo of him as Hercules from the film's costume fitting. The photo has been described as Johnson dressed up as Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) from "Iron Man 2." He has long hair and a long black beard.

Johnson once again confirmed that there are plans to give his "Fast and Furious" character Luke Hobbs a spin-off and that he's no longer attached to "Lobo" comic book movie. "['Lobo'] kind of came and went," he explained. "It came. I thought it was interesting. Then it kind of went away. 'Shazam' was more interesting. I would have loved that, especially the idea of playing Black Adam."

Actually, Enforcer makes a good point...

Many have compared The Rock as the new Ahnuld but the thing is... he is, but not really.

Your are basically comparing two people from two time eras since they both are physically impressive, acting was not necessarily their strong suit, and charismatic as f*ck....nowadays, The Rock would be occupying Ahnulds place, but that's not what the Rock wants...he could be playing the same action star character & be more wealthy than he is now, but that's not his goal...

So regarding Ahnuld, at first, he couldn't act himself out of a paper bag but was backed by some of the most famed directors wanting to prove themselves such as James Cameron, James McTiernan, that played to his strengths & down played hisweaknesses...but check this, he started in an era where the one man army was getting started...him & Stallones ruled it.

Ahnuld was very ambitious & how he only wanted to work with the best...if you actually look at his CV, you notice how the first films had more wooden performances than Pinocchio, but he started learning to act enough through his films that after cementing his fame in action, tried branching out as thrillers (a spy in TRUE LIES), comedies (TWINS, JUNIOR), and lastly drama/ action (END OF DAYS, COLLATERAL). If you notice his last films begin to be "non-blockbuster" but his acting had improved considerably...In the beginning its kinda similar to Keanu Reeves--not a good actor, but great roles.

What also helped was that Ahnuld was a saavy, confident businessman that knew how to handle & market himself. People forget he was a millionare before he got into movies...he was into real estate that he invested from his Mr. Universe money. He later became a Governor, because he was that ambitious. The guy goes always try to improve himself...never settled.

As for the Rock, unfortunately, he entered too late in the game. The one man army fad had passed--the ordinary man in extraordinary situations are now in (Willis has been kicking ass in it), the upcoming directors had made their names & were in other projects, and he just didn't have the best roles offered....but here's the kicker...

The Rock WANTS to be an actor. He looks for those out there, challenging roles like BE COOL (as Enforcer mentioned) and SOUTHLAND TALES. I'd say he did pretty good in FASTER...he rarely talked, but everything he was thinking, he expressed with his face...mostly scowling but anyways.

The problem is that his body is a blessing & and a curse...he wants to do roles, but all they see is action star or self humiliating comedies that shows his family/funny side. How can you show weakness or vulnerability built like a truck?! But then, like any other actors, he tries to keep working and acting in whatever is open...

That's the issue Ahnuld is also is dealing now, that's why is having so much to get used to...now he he needs to be seen as more human. In THE LAST STAND, it was about getting a team together to fight the bad guy. Before he left, Ahnuld WOULD BE THE TEAM!!

Like Liotta said one time (I'm paraphrasing) about him wanting good roles, but he still needs to work. He might work in a dud, but that dud will get him paid & possibly open some doors to better parts or projects. Its better to keep working.

So to be honest, it really is unfair to compare them, but if you had to...Ahnuld wins in box office, but Rock beats him in ability (which is not saying that much)..

Oh, right on topic...(ahem)

I'm not worried. He won't get hired. He can wish all he wants, but it won't happen...everyone hating his ever lovin' guts can relax.
Taco writes:

There isn't anything that bad or disgraceful the Rock could due to Star Wars that wasnt already done in the prequels. The Star Wars soup has been pissed in 3 times over by Lucas. Star Wars lost its virtue back in 1999.

Relax people. The interviewer asked him a simple question and he replied.

Are there other franchises that you look at and think, “I want to give that a shock to the system?”

Oh easily. Star Wars. And that’s not to say that they need it. Obviously they’re doing very well. And J.J. [Abrams] is just gonna crush it. I’m so excited. There’s a guy, by the way, who’s not just a brilliant director, but honors and respects mythology. You’ve seen that with Star Trek and you’re going to see that with Star Wars. I’m very excited about that.

Never said he was pursuing Star Wars, never said he would. Just an off the cuff remark, like "if you could f*ck one Hollywood actress, who would it be". If.

And while the f*cker is certainly not even remotely close to Arnold, and never will be, and he damned well knows it, he's still a watchable enough guy. Far better to see him in a flock than Vin, who has virtually zero likeability, charm or charisma. Just a terrible showman, Vin is. Wouldn't buy a used car from the f*cker. But Dwayne, probably. Seems like a decent enough dude.

I've always been ok with him as Black Adam.
You have to do a "less is more" approach with his roles. The Rundown was awesome as was Walking Tall and Faster. Kepp him simple and focused and he's gold. But that's the case for any action star. Giving him more diverse roles with characters with depth is a recipe for disaster.
I wouldn't mind seeing him try to leg out a true villan. Not some tongue in cheek bordeline bad guy, but a true *sshole.

The Rock is a cool guy and a decent actor and a great action star. The guy just ozzez charisma, I don't get the hate.

Anyway, I don't see it saying he will star in a Star Wars movie but if he does he could play a Darth Mual like character I think.
