James Cameron Still Writing "Avatar 2"

James Cameron Still Writing "Avatar 2"Submit Comment
In a new interview, James Cameron revealed that he's currently in New Zealand working on "Avatar 2" and "Avatar 3," adding that he's still writing the scripts.

"I'm working on 'Avatar 2' and 'Avatar 3.' I'm deep into it and I'm living in Pandora right now," he said. "There is that start up torque where you feel it's coming to you. Then you build up momentum. That's when it gets fun. The characters talk and it's writing itself. I'm almost there right now. It's building fast."

"Avatar" became the highest-grossing film of all time with $2.78 billion. When asked if he feels any pressure to deliver with the next two installments, Cameron replied: "Pressure, no. It's a little daunting, because sequels are always tricky. You have to be surprising and stay ahead of audience anticipation. At the same time, you have to massage their feet with things that they know and love about the first film. I definitely have to deliver the goods."

Cameron didn't know when "Avatar 2" will be in theaters, but the currently plan is to have it ready for December of next year, which seems unlikely.

No one on this planet gives a f*ck less than I.

Seriously, this has got to be the best example of a filmmaker who's way more in love whith his own work than anyone else. Cameron thinks he has a Star Wars equivalent in his hands. Jimbo, buddy, you don't.

He should move on and direct The Informationist. That's something I would be looking forward to.

Maybe the genius that Cameron is he can think of vital plot elements like "Unobtainium".

Prick.

Where did you hear this? The strongest rumor I've read is that December 2015 is the year. Never have I heard a 2014 release. Baffling.

You have to massage their feet?

Uh, no you don't, you crazy bastard.

You're just doing that because you want to. What is it with movie directors and all of their foot fetishes?

Gotta admire the guy for his persistence, even if it is in creating something that few give a sh*t about.

@mink I liked them haha. Avatar was entertaining but by no means had an original plot. Titanic was a good and sweet love story but again nothing to special

For anyone asking about Titanic, it's the spectacle and the emotional strength of that last hour that make the film memorable.

That last hour especially captured the essence of the disaster perfectly.
