First Look: Eddie Murphy in "Beverly Hills Cop" TV SeriesSubmit Comment
Producer Shawn Ryan ("The Shield") is working on the upcoming "Beverly Hills Cops" TV series. And since filming has already started, Ryan decided to show the first set photos, giving us a look at Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley and Brandon T. Jackson as Aaron Foley, who is Axel's son. Check out the photos below.

Described as a continuation of the movie franchise, the pilot episode centers on Axel Foley's (Murphy) police officer son, Aaron (Jackson), who takes down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills while working to escape his famous father's shadow. Murphy will reprise his role as the wisecracking detective and could recur should the project become a TV series.

The new TV series co-stars Kevin Pollak (The Usual Suspects) as a lawyer for the Beverly Hills Police Department. Judge Reinhold is also expected to reprise his Billy Rosewood role.

Eddie's not as black as he used to be. Figuratively, and literally.

sh*t will get cancelled first season, if not two or three episodes in, especially when they see only two people from Detroit are watching.

Regarding Superman...so Nolan rips off Heat to make The Dark Knight, then he rips off The Matrix to make Inception, and now he's ripping off The Matrix again to make Man of Steel?

Does the man have ANY originality whatsoever?

@mink

Yeah that leaked review ain't so encouraging. But someone else said the new theme has a suite of trumpets in it and it sounds good for a new theme.
Stapes writes:

If BET wanted a hit for their network they should have produced something like this long ago. Is BET even still on TV?
minkowski writes:
on March 17th, 2013 at 5:27:35 PM

Oh I get it. Man of Steal. Nolan is referring to himself. How clever.

"Is BET even still on TV?"

No clue. I'm not black.

@Deaft0ne: we will see, but the theme is the least of my concerns.

Nobody else will watch this
Martin used to copy Eddie, now Eddie is bitin off of Martin usin Brandon Jackd-son

If Eddie died after Harlem Knights, he wouldve achieved legendary status
Eddies well is drier than Lohans toothbrush(so nice i had to use that one twice)

This reminds me of the new Knight Rider. They tried pathetically to reboot the old show, even had David show up for the first episode, all for naught. Didn't even last a full season IIRC.

And this sh*t is on CBS. Who the f*ck watches CBS? Homeless people?
cress writes:
on March 17th, 2013 at 7:13:37 PM

@Mink. I think Val Kilmer was the voice of KITT in the reboot.
minkowski writes:

He was. Uncredited.

Fat Kilmer.
cress writes:

Eddie Murphy is enormously talented and funny. But he hasade so many bad choices with film roles, he has lost whatever good will he had with audiences. The generation that grew up with him is tired of his terrible films, one after another. They've bailed on him. And the younger generations aren't familiar with how hilarious he used to be, and automatically dismiss anything he's in. I just don't think he gives a f*ck about his legacy; he only cares about a paycheck. That SHREK money can make a brother overlook a lot of the finer details---like decent scripts.
minkowski writes:
on March 17th, 2013 at 7:43:29 PM

Murphy is like Carrey. He had/has a very narrow comedic schtick and people simply got tired of it and moved on to something else. He's done. Over.
Deaft0ne writes:

@mink

I only watch one show on CBS and it's Person of Interest and it's because it's a modern version of The Equalizer.
minkowski writes:
on March 17th, 2013 at 9:47:07 PM

The original Equalizer is unsurpassed. A remake of it for Showtime, The Official Network With Balls, would be far better than POI, which I've seen and was subsequently left underwhelmed.

Edward Woodward >>> Jim Caveziel.

This show could be good...

...if it was on another network--edgy ones like FOX or even USA...

....if it had better action. The shoot out won't do anymore. They'll have to put more money on the car chases, explosions, etc...rich people have a tendency to go all out if they have/ will make a lot of money.

...if they update they update with the times. Wealth, crimes, and police procedure to the wealthy apply differently from the 80s.

...if they have juicy plots. Complex crimes & plot twists will have to be top notch since CSI, NCIS, and Law & Order have raised the bar considerably...

...if they had edgy writing. If this is BEVERLY HILLS COP for a new generation, it has to be more ballsy with dialogue (especially with Axel & son, slang or expressions from the street) and the son to mimick his Dad's double talk, ability to con to get the job done/ for his own gain, smartass, and great put downs.

In short, it has to be better than the movies, like a new & improved Axel with today's street smarts dealing with more hi-tech, more aggressive criminals his Dad ever got to deal with which I sadly don't think it'll be able to do at CBS....could be another case of great idea, lame execution.
