Sam Raimi Won't Return for "Oz The Great and Powerful" Sequel

Posted: March 9th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Sam Raimi WonSubmit Comment
Disney is very confidant that "Oz The Great and Powerful" will earn between $80 million and $90 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend. The studio is so confidant that it already hired Mitchell Kapner (Oz The Great and Powerful, The Whole Nine Yards) to write the script.

According to early reports, "Oz" grossed around $25 million on Friday and will likely earn $80 million over the weekend. If that happens, that should put the film on track to make back its $200 million budget.

But now comes word that Sam Raimi has no interest in returning to direct the sequel. "I was attracted to this story but I don't think the second one would have the thing I would need to get me interested," he said. "I did leave some loose ends for another director if they want to make the picture."

Like the Bush years (both senior and junior) proved to raise folks IQ as a whole.

Smart move for Raimi. If the movie bombs, he'll be long gone. But if it's a success, than the pressure is on his successor.

I was hoping he'd work on these films for the rest of his career.

Hit and miss movie. Some good parts but the Wicked Witch (from Sam Raimi, no less) was a major letdown. As for Raimi himself, please drag Lohan to hell.

...or just throw the bitch in front of a train all the same.

lol. Good one bando. Good one. But in all honesty, people who voted for Obama probably can't spell any word correctly.

I don't like Sam Raimi, the man bitches about everything. Won't do spider-man without his love nest of Maguire Or Cunst. Go suck your goofy looking brother off Raimi.

Right.

As a whole I'm somewhat disappointed with Obama, but after 8 years of Bushsh*t I have no choice but to give a pass. Prostate exams sound much more enjoyable than another 8 years of Bush.

I don't know much about politics, so that's all I'll say for the sake of my own embarassment.

And the verdict is in - should witness at least once the story was, Braff was a bit like Jar-Jar, and Kunia was awful the whole war through.

Your response is understandable, Tan, but just a small correction:

It's not a remake.
