Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros announced today that Christopher Nolan's next film, "Interstellar," has been scheduled to hit theaters on November 7th, 2014, with Paramount handling domestic distribution and Warners handling international.

"Interstellar" is written by Nolan, who will also be directing. The script is based on a story by Nolan's brother, Jonathan (The Dark Knight Rises, The Dark Knight, The Prestige, Memento), and depicts a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding.

"As a filmmaker and storyteller, Chris has continuously entertained the world with his extraordinary and unparalleled talents. I am pleased beyond measure to welcome him to the Paramount Pictures family," said Paramount.

Warner Bros added: "Christopher Nolan is truly one of the great auteurs working in film today, and we're extremely proud of our successful and ongoing collaboration with him and [producer] Emma Thomas."

Hmm...that doesn't strike as a Major Blockbuster release date. However, I'm willing to give this movie a try.

Spoiler: everyone dies at the end, but only after a lot of grim bleak shots and much character-driven suffering.

"A heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding."

Wow. That plot synopsis couldn't be any more generically vague if tried.

^^I know, and I'm interested, so I spent like ten minutes trying to find SOMETHING on this movie. Some sh*t about Kip Thorne and time travel. Great. The Black Hole + Sunshine.

More info, Nolan. Damned movie only comes out next year.

I've been eating about this for years, Very interested in seeing how this works out.

Interesting to say the least...love him or hate him, O gotta admit the guy has balls to pull off somr of his "freaky" projects...

Take MEMENTO, where he deals with unreliable memory, what drives us and showing the movie backwards starting with the ending so the audience can fel equally disoriented, just like G. Pearce's character AND also serves plot? Who the f*ck does that?

Or INCEPTION? A movie about entering people's dreams and if that wasn't enough, upping the ante with a dream in a dream (in a dream?) with slick, unusual visuals & a great cast...really gutsy, I gotta admit.

So with INTERESTELLAR, I'd consider myself in the hands of a master storyteller with a real understanding of visuals & technology...will definitely check it out.

have to disagree with you Cell, do you mind being called Cell? anyways, being the first to create an idea on screen hardly makes you it's originator, and to be honest, "Interstellar" sounds like about 5 different sci-fi renditions by arthur clarke, larry niven, f*ck even leiji matsumodo, just to name the obvious...I am still looking forward to this movie, but not because it sounds original, gutsy, or "freaky", but because it is simply one subject I will enjoy, as opposed to something like, "the bling ring" ;]

Don't mind Cell, Greenlensman.

"...being the first to create an idea on screen hardly makes you it's originator..."

Well he's an originator in setting up in the movies. If you're talking about comparing it with novels, you're comparing apples & oranges...different mediums. But what I'm talking about is that he makes complex, personal passion projects that would intimidate big name directors & making it mainstream AND successful.

Having said this, I know he had to earn and work his way up to make this movie. If the Dark Knight would've flopped, I'd guarantee you he wound'nt get the funds to make INCEPTION. If you're a big studio, would you back up a weak dream movie? How would you market it? How to make a profit? But Nolan proved he was able to make money...and it didn't hurt all the big names that signed up for the cast.

My point just being, Nolan has experimented on unusually and daring subjects in his projects that have resulted in good returns as proof there is a audience to well made movies.

Nolan took major risks to make his passion project into a big mainstream movie as complex as dreams. You can tell the project took YEARS to polish, but it was well worth it...It will probably be a reference to other films, just that time of movie.

As for INTERSTELLAR, it's all speculation...but I can guarantee you it'll be a head scratcher, but well worth it to follow him on this journey.

I'd like to see Nolan's take on "The Forever War" (supposedly Ridley Scott is making this) and "We All Died At Breakaway Station".
