"Beasts of the Southern Wild" Actress Confirmed for Jay-Z's "Annie" Remake

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" Actress Confirmed for Jay-ZSubmit Comment
It was rumored for some time, but now comes word directly from Sony Pictures that Oscar-nominee Quvenzhane Wallis, the star of "Beasts of the Southern Wild," has been cast as the title role in "Annie," which is being produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z.

"With the recent Academy Award nomination and critical acclaim, Quvenzhane Wallis is a true star and we believe her portrayal as Annie will make her a true worldwide star," said Sony. "She is an extraordinary young talent with an amazing range, not only as an actress but as a singer and dancer, and we can't wait for audiences to further discover her."

Based on a daily comic strip that debuted in 1924, "Little Orphan Annie" told the story of a little girl who, after escaping from an orphanage, is taken in by the rich Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks.

The new movie will be directed by Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends With Benefits) and released around Christmas of 2014.

I will never see this movie, even if I somehow make it to the Singularity and have my mind uploaded into a cosmos-spanning super-intelligence.

Why are n*ggers making remakes of white people films? Why do n*ggers like putting drama that has to do with n*ggers in their god-awful remakes of white people films? Why do n*ggers have to cast Kevin Hart in everything?

Why?

Jay Z already destroys minds with his mindless songs(and i use that word generously) now he's gotta make mindless films, and the dad part no matter how bad it sucks(and it will) people will say they like it just to look "hip" or not come across racist.

Great for her! She gave one of the best and most raw performances I have ever seen from a child actress. She was my very first choice to replace "Willow Smith". I heard about the same amount of snarky Race-baiting comments when "Jaden Smith" was first cast as the black "karate Kid". Which is ironic and hypocritical in itself seeing how "Ralph Maccio" wasn't Asian.

And looked just how well that turned out "Jaden Smiths" Karate Kid grossed nearly 400 million worldwide and was a much bigger smash hit than the original. So Phuck all the haters!

ROCKSTEADY:
Music? The question your racist bigoted bit has really should be asking is "why on earth do honkies keep remaking and covering classic Black songs?!"

"The bitch isn't ginger!"
Champ1432 writes:

Ralph Macchio wasn't supposed to be Asian. The original wasn't about an Asian learning karate from an old guy, it was about a p*ssy, whining white kid learning karate from an old guy. Non-Asians can learn karate. It's been known to happen.

Of course, black people can be adopted by rich people the same as ginger kids can, Diff'rent Strokes taught us that. But the problem people have is that the role is established as a white girl with red hair. It just seems like they're re-doing it with a non-ginger just to say they did.

Nothing against the girl, by all accounts she was great in Beasts, although I never saw it.

This just wouldn't need to happen. Of course, you can say that about a lot of things that come out of Hollywood.

Black Annie? The girl looks more like a black Shirley Temple to me...

The problem is that I just don't think they'll be able to update ANNIE accurately with the plot not really matching or challenging her talent...

@Curbcooler, hi, Idiot. As you may or may not know, I am black.
And please, if you really weren't racist, you'd let black people be badmouthed like any other person.
