Stan Lee's New Superhero "The Annihilator" to Become $150 Million Film

Stan LeeSubmit Comment
Stan Lee is known for some of the most recognizable superhero characters, including Spider-Man, Iron Man and the Hulk. And after all these years, he hasn't stopped contributing to the comic book world.

Lee just teamed with producer Barry Josephson (Enchanted, "Bones") to bring his latest creation, The Annihilator, to the big screen. The film is already financed at around $150 million, will be written by Dan Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy, Real Steel).

"The Annihilator" tells the story of a young Chinese prisoner, Ming, who chooses to enlist in a secret US super soldier program instead of staying in prison. The program uses targeted genetic enhancements from various animal species. Now, armed with remarkable abilities, he must confront a former rival.

This smells like a huge flop...

So.....captain america.....but captain animal???? This just sounds like if cap and wolverine had a baby.....you know? Sounds dumb to me. Just screams flop. I love stan lee but it looks like his time is over. Keep signing autographs and smiling stan.

Sounds cool, the idea, but they should have given him a name that better suits his heritage. Like "Gene Savage" or something. The Annihilator sounds like a third-string McFarlane Spawn character. And how does a Chinese prisoner end up in the hands of the US military? Oh well.

Just make MANIMAL into a movie. Simon Maccorkindale could use the work.
vincere01 writes:

Exactly. Definitely not how stan needs to be remembered.

You know it's bad when even Tanman says it's going to flop.

well like come on.. New superhero that NOBODY has heard of is supposed to make back 150 Millon at the box office? Come on..

If superheros that were well known like spawn, daredevil and say.. darkman? (iunno lol) cant make good money, what makes this film have a chance lol
vincere01 writes:

I actually enjoyed daredevil. I never understood all the hate. Its no superman 1 or batman begins. But its better than the avengers in my book. It could have been a lot better if ben wasn't in it though ill say that. But everything else was solid. Even colin farrel didn't suck
minkowski writes:

@Tanman: this is pretty much the height of Marvel getting full of themselves. They've seen the Big Green, and they think they can put whatever they want to screen and people will watch it.

Maybe they're right, but I largely doubt it.
Tanman32123 writes:

i never think colin farrel sucks though lol love his acting lol Daredevil was good, just not a big hit at the Box office :P

Michael clarke dunkin was great in it too. It deserved a good sequel instead of the aborted half sister movie electra. Now that was horrible. Would have been an interesting story to play out after the events of the first film. Kind of sorry it will never happen

"the annihilator" is a completely sh*t name for a movie. unless marvel gives roger corman a $100k budget to produce this, they're gonna lose their f*cking shirts on this.

oh, and while we're on the topic of stan lee, i finally saw that new spider man movie. gets the big BLAH. maybe i'm really down on this annihilator concept because i am completely superhero-movie fatigued. i really can't stand them anymore. saw the avengers a few weeks ago.. big BLAH there, too.

maybe i'm just getting old and curmudgeonly... urgh

Yeah I mean this sounds like Captain America, Wolverine, whatever. Even the plot sounds similar to Wolverine/Sabretooth.

I've never heard of this guy, and I'm sure that's true for a lot of people. Surprised it's being given this much of a budget. If they kept it smaller and just focused on making a quality movie, it might have a chance of turning a profit. Can't see that happening with a big budget.

There is no hope for this film if they hired Dan Gilroy to write it. How does this guy even find work after Reel Steel and The Bourne Legacy.

Crank this movie out and film all Stan Lee cameos in advance
Just film him doin random stuff then insert in post prod.
