Bruce Lee Film "Birth of the Dragon" Hires "Ali" Writers

Bruce Lee Film "Birth of the Dragon" Hires "Ali" WritersSubmit Comment
Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen Rivele (Nixon, Ali) have been hired to write the script for "Birth of the Dragon," a new movie focusing on the origins of Bruce Lee.

"Birth of the Dragon" is inspired by the true-life duel between Lee and Wong Jack Man, who was China's most famous kung fu Master. The no-rules fight took place in San Francisco in 1965, when the city's Chinatown was controlled by Hong Kong triads.

The writers are using this true event as a starting point for a bigger action movie in which Wong and Lee team up to battle a band of Chinatown gangsters.

"Stephen Rivele and Chris Wilkinson have taken a little-known chapter in the life of Bruce Lee and used it as a jumping-off point for a bold, exciting story about the making of an international legend," said producer Michael London.

Dunno. I comprehend Bando excels at hating on pretty much anything and everything, and that's kind of the constant vibe around here, but in a way I agree.

Lots of Bruce Lee movies, and not a lot of takers these days. They already made a few pseudo-historical movies about the guy, and although one or two were good, they're not exactly high-demand films.

So I'm missing the point of making another, and wondering to what audience they plan to target, because just milking the man's name to sell tickets isn't the most solid of strategies. Gotta know your audience first and have a reasonable goal with some expectations.

How about a Niel Armstrong movie? Not that Ron Howard Apollo 13 sleep-aid, I mean one that really gets into the landing on the moon, because I think that might appeal to more people across the last two generations than an Asian martial artist who has been dead for decades.

Don The Dragon? Good good Brando. The man is a twat. Can't act or fight. Bruce Lee Was a master for his time. As is that chink in Ong Bak.

@Mink how about a decent movie on the art or rimming. And how it is and is not done.

More if this border line insulting fictional sh*t but no thought provoking biopic on the man's actual life and philosophies which I would find infinitely more interesting.

Always loved Bruce Lee but Wong Jack Man probably kicked his ass at that fight if you research it, thus is is such a crazy idea.
