"Paranormal Activity 2" Director to Helm Stephen King's "Cell," John Cusack to StarPosted: February 8th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
  Back in October, it was reported that John Cusack (1408) signed on to star in another Stephen King movie, called "Cell." King co-wrote the screenplay with "The Last House on the Left" writer Adam Alleca. Now comes word that Tod Williams (Paranormal Activity 2) has been hired to direct.
Plot: Artist Clayton Riddell had been in Boston negotiating a successful deal to sell his comic book project. His joy at finally hitting it big is shattered by an event called The Pulse which causes all those who were using their cell phones at the time of The Pulse to become zombies attacking and killing anyone in their way. Fortunately for Clay, he does not own a cell phone.
In the panic to get out of Boston and find his way home to his wife and son in Maine, he is joined by Tom McCourt, a man he meets in the events immediately following The Pulse and a young girl, Alice, who they rescue from being killed by one of the "crazies." The story follows their terrifying journey, avoiding capture — and worse — by the "crazies" who are beginning to "flock" and are led by one they call Raggedy Man as they attempt to reach Maine and a place called Kashwak which they hope will be their salvation.

Uh oh. More negativity.
1408 sucked. Essentially the polar opposite of The Shining in every way.
Cell was sh*t. One of King's lazier books.
John Cusack is way past his sell-by date. Last good movie he was in is Identity.
That's it.

I thought Cusack was terrible as Poe in "The Raven". He was miscast, and the film was sh*t even though it had a potentially cool storyline.

Speaking of "The Shining", anyone ever heard of the theory that Kubrick helped the U.S. fake the moon landings, and that Kubrick later subversively revealed as much in "The Shining"?

I enjoyed 1408. I wasn't expecting much, but It's one of my favourite King stories.
I don't know much about this book, but the plot feels like the movie will turn out like 2012... just instead of Cusack running from things exploding, he's running from zombie things.
Just re-make IT already.

Amen Whitta. It deserves two full movies or a kick ass HBO series. Or both. f*cking Haven got several seasons, you couldn't do "The Derry Chronicles" based out of the Hanlon excerpts between movies and make millions of dollars? Come on.

I'm sure the trailer will have the same generic stone wall with the generic font.

@Tanmang
The Shining via Kubrick is the best King adaptation ever. The entire novel is in there if only symbolically.
My point? Resurrect The Koob!
