9/11 Families Defend "Zero Dark Thirty"

9/11 Families Defend "Zero Dark Thirty"Submit Comment
Ever since the release of "Zero Dark Thirty," several Congressman as well as Hollywood filmmakers have come out against the movie, stating that it's "pro-torture." In fact, one Academy Awards member publicly urged other members not to vote for the movie for its waterboarding scenes.

Now comes word that 9/11 Family Group, whose members lost relatives in the 2001 terrorist attack, have come to the defense of "Zero Dark Thirty," speaking out against government officials who have discouraged people from seeing the movie.

"We are greatly concerned that a few pundits, 'film critics' and elected officials are badmouthing this movie because of the waterboarding scenes and because this film directly confronts the enduring terrorist threat," the group said in a statement.

The group went on to describe this criticism as "censorship," stating that the reason officials are against the movie is because they "view this film as antithetical to what our government should be all about."

The movie was pretty lame though because K-Bigs forgot how to direct with any passion or style after Point Break and Strange Days.

How about everyone just leave the politics out of the film, after all...it's a film.

What they should do is immediately remove any voters that display clear bias against films based on their political stance.

@Damon

Exactly. The people who oppose this movie or denounce for being "pro-torture" are idiotic for three reasons:

1) They're failing as film critics/viewers by not being able to separate their political high-mindedness from their, seemingly poor, ability to enjoy a fictional film.

2) The film never excuses torture. Every person involved with it clearly carries the emotional weight of having tortured another human being. Jason Clarke's character has to stop doing it and Jessica Chastain's Maya is visibly affected by the acts. The film never says, "Look how awesome this is! Isn't it awesome and fun!"

Of course these people would know that if they pulled their heads out of their asses for 2 seconds and allowed themselves to enjoy a very good film.

I am against it because it is a bad movie.
