Which Movie Trailers Will Air During the Super Bowl?Posted: January 29th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
The Super Bowl is set to take place this Sunday, February 3rd. While the San Francisco 49ers take on the Baltimore Ravens, movie fans will be treated to trailers from some of the biggest upcoming movies. Unfortunately, since ads cost $4 million for 30 seconds, only three studios decided to participate this year.
Paramount Pictures will show a new 30-second TV spot for Brad Pitt's zombie movie "World War Z" during the pre-game. Then during the second quarter of the game, the studio will air a 30-second TV spot for for JJ Abrams' "Star Trek Into Darkness."
Disney will unveil a new TV spot for Sam Raimi's "Oz The Great and Powerful," a 90-second TV spot for Johnny Depp's "The Lone Ranger," and a new 60-second TV spot for "Iron Man 3."
Universal Pictures will release the first footage from "Fast and Furious 6" in the form of a 30-second TV spot.
Studios that have not bought ads for the actual game, often debut ads during the pre-game. So it's still possible to see something new.

Sad, perhaps one of the biggest collective audience all year and you pay to show trailers that are already out in cirrculation? I would use those millions to debut a trailer for the first time to a captive audience.

@Bunny X you hit the nail on the head. This is the reason so many great films do not get the marketing or the recognition they deserve. These movie companies are just getting dumber as the years go by.

If a tree falls in the woods, and I'm not there to hear it, does it make a sound?
Philosophically, that's where my interest is at right now.

i.e., I don't watch the Super Bowl. Too much like masturbation without the payoff.

if the Lone Ranger has a 90 seconds spot, does that mean they spent 12 millions? 0_0 if so that's f*cked to do on an already out of this world budget lol
Looking forward to Seeing the Fast 6 ad though :)
Also - GO RAVENS!!
I won $246 on a proline last month, the bet was San fran to win their game, Baltimore to win theirs, and lastly that chicago Blackhaws would win their game playing that night. All on a $20 bet!
They all won :)
Hoping to do some sort of repeat this next Sunday lol
