French director Pierre Morel, who turned Liam Neeson into an action star in "Taken", is in talks with Penn to direct the actor in his first action movie, called "Prone Gunman," based on a novel by Jean-Patrick Manchette.
The story centers on an international operative named Martin Terrier (Penn) who is betrayed by the organization he works for and must go on the run in a relentless game of cat-and-mouse across Europe.
The script is written by Peter Travis and the plan is to begin filming in the spring in several locations across Europe.

Ya he's been in movies that have had his character do some action, but the vast majority of the films he was doing drama. I think they mean this is the first time he is playing a character that is by all means action first. I'd liken it to matt damon being in courage under fire (some action, mostly drama ( and then starring in the bourne identity
