Nicholas Braun in Talks for "The Kitchen Sink," with Vampires, Zombies and AliensPosted: January 21st, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
About two years ago, Jonah Hill was planning to make his directing debut on "The Kitchen Sink," which is written by Oren Uziel and ended up on the 2010 Black List of the best unproduced scripts.
Now comes word that Robbie Pickering (Natural Selection) will direct, and Mackenzie Davis (Breathe In), Nicholas Braun (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Josh Fadem ("The Eric Andre Show") are in talks to star.
The film is about a pair of teens (Davis, Braun) who form an unlikely alliance with vampires and zombies in order to take on an alien army. The title is a reference to the fact that the writer has thrown every known and currently popular menace into the story.
"It's in the spirit of 'The Breakfast Club,' but you get an idea of the title in an early scene where two kids are running from zombies," said producer Matt Tolmach. "Those zombies suddenly are attacked by vampires. Just when they are all facing off, there's a bright light overhead. You realize the aliens have landed and these groups have to band together, suppress the urge to kill each other, and it becomes thematically the enemy of my enemy is my friend."

"..Jonah Hill was planning to make his directing debut.."
You lost me there already. Any wanker can be a director these days.
As for the concept of the story, they're obviously banking on the Twatlight prepubescent audience. Not even for free I'll be watching this steaming sh*t!

His stupid ass maybe just what they need to pull this off
We all knew this sh*t was gonna happen eventually so as long as its not made all smart-assy like Hill wouldve made it.
This sh*t needs to be done on a large scale
You cant p*ssy-foot around with this kind of 'concept'

I love how they throw in a reference to The Breakfast Club, like a movie that could be titled Aliens vs Vampires vs Zombies has anything to do with John Hughes' magnum opus. As if some film that exploits and mocks the dead-end existence of modern monster flicks is actually clever in an oh-so-cynical way.
