Back when the rights to the "Terminator" franchise went on sale, Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty, The Master), the daughter of Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison, put up the money to acquire the film series. Then came word that her brother, David (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol), joined her in the quest to bring "Terminator 5" to the big screen.
Deadline is now reporting that Megan and David have hired Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island, Alexander) and Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine) to write the script for the fifth installment. The story will be an original sci-fi adventure based on an idea initiated by David's production company.
The plan has been to bring Arnold Schwarzenegger back, but the actor recently mocked the franchise, stating that they are working on "Terminator 16." There's no word when production will begin, but Megan and David only have five years to make as many installments as possible before the rights revert back to James Cameron.

Neither. People are bitching about the scriptwriter because he did Shutter Island. Well, Lehane's book is about as boring, so blame him. He also helped write Alexander. Again, not his fault. He was the low man on that totem. He also EP'ed on Avatar, so Cameron obviously trusts him to a point, and he's attached to Battle Angel, or so I've read, so again, Cameron trusts him in some regard.
People shouldn't bitch about the writer. Just wait till the sh*tty casting comes in, and they announce Ratner or one of his ilk, for director. Then you'll have a reason to complain. Trust me.
