"Diff'rent Strokes" Father Conrad Bain Dead at 89, "Die Hard" Director Sentenced to PrisonPosted: January 16th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Conrad Bain, who starred as Phil Drummond, the rich white businessman who adopts Harlem kids Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges on the popular sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes," has died. He was 89.
He starred in many movies during his career and made TV appearances on such shows as "The Facts of Life," "The Love Boat," "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."
In other news, John McTiernan (Die Hard, Predator, The Hunt for Red October, The Thomas Crown Affair) has been sentenced to serve one year in prison for his role in the Anthony Pellicano wiretapping scandal. He actually filed a guilty plea two years ago, but has spent the last two years attempting to reverse it. On Monday, the Supreme Court decided not to hear his appeal, which means that his prison sentence will remain.
McTiernan was charged with two counts of making false statements to the FBI in 2006 and one count of perjury for lying to a federal judge. He denied ever talking about wiretapping with Pellicano, but the FBI has recordings of the two discussing wiretapping producer Chuck Roven during the making of "Rollerball." Pellicano is currently service 15 years in prison.

Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some
A man is born, he's a man of means
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans
But they got, Diff'rent Strokes
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world
Everybody's got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine
It don't matter that you got
Not alot
So what
they'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine
And together we'll be fine....
Because it takes
Diff'rent Strokes to move the world
Yes it does
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Mr. Drummond did some piss-poor parenting when Arnold and Dudley were molested by the bicycle shop owner.
From that moment on, I never looked at the Maytag repairman in quite the same light again.

Maybe now they're release the Diff'rent Stokes episode where Mr. Drummond used the boys as sex slaves.
Oh-oh... they're black. And I said 'slaves!' Where's Tarantino when you need him?!?!
So pretty much all 3 in that pic are dead (even if Bridges isn't... he's dead, he just doesn't know it), and Dana Plato (one of the greatest camel toes to ever hit the TV screen next to Jan Smithers in tight jeans at WKRP). Ba-BOING!

@Alex: Serving, not servicing, although I'm sure Pellicano will be doing some "servicing" in prison.

Ok...I'll be serious for a moment. John McTiernan, what the f*ck happened to you? You made arguably one of the greatest action films ever, DIE HARD, as well as Predator and The Hunt For Red October. You set the bar pretty f*cking high. Now you're going to prison. And you're only 62. f*cking shame.

^^He's going to prison for bullsh*t Cress. People go to prison just for saying they'd like to shoot the president in a restaurant. You act like he murdered an FBI informant and sold Joe Biden a bag of crack. sh*t happens. He f*cked up.

And like I said previously, he'll be out in a little over ten months (85% of 12 months). Not like he was mass producing films anyway.

^^^No mink. I'm saying it's a f*cking shame he hasn't done sh*t behind the camera in 10 years, and now he's off to prison. It's a prime example of Sick Boys Unifying Theory of Life.

McTiernan should direct one of The Expendables sequels. That would kick-ass.

@Cress: At least McTiernan didn't make Prometheus, like Ridley Scott. Now there's a fall from grace if I ever saw one. Hell, Scott going to prison would actually be an improvement after that crime against humanity we saw last year.

Looking back at that era of shows, Diff'rent Stokes, all crap. Not funny. Just crap.
Didn't have the magic of: 'The Honeymooners' or 'All in the Family' etc.
Don't remember? Go on YouTube and watch a bit. Yeah... they sucked.
