Back in July, it was reported that Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, X-Men: First Class) signed on to produce and star in "Assassin's Creed," a big screen adaptation of Ubisoft's video game franchise.

Ubisoft teamed up with New Regency and 20th Century Fox for the project. The plan has been to have a director, cast and script by summer of 2013. And now comes word that English playwright Michael Lesslie has been hired to provide the script.

Plot revolves around a man (Fassbender) who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret organization with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.

At the end of the movie, he wakes up only to be killed.
Assassinception.

Meh. Assassin's Creed always reminded me of those old Thief games beefed up for better hardware, and I was never a fan of Thief, but if anyone could do it, I suppose Mr Forehead is a good choice. Dude has talent and ability written all over him. Especially his forehead.

Fassbender is the kind of everyman who could do any role.

Writing, filming, and releasing a movie in under 12 months? Well, that doesn't sound good.

This will be horrible, as are all video game based movies. Thats not to say that I don't want it to be good, just these two franchises never mix well. Doom. That is all.

I have no faith in Video Game movies. Ever since Prince of Persia "happened", I just stopped altogether.

You can already tell how generic this is, just by reading the plot.
Michael Fassbender'll be the foundation of the film.

Yer all videogame movies have been sh*t but the plot although not orignial at all is pretty cool. Could start an indian jones style franchise and I love the fassbender.

A video game? So much for Fassbender for being the next Bond then!

Please forgive me but I have a huge rant on this subject.

Whenever they come out with a movie based on it they seem to jack the story all up and the non gamers don't get to experience the BETTER and more compelling story that us gamers have experience. Instead Hollywood likes to throw some of their own ideas and it just sucks. THE STORY IS THERE. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS COPY IT. Resident Evil has to be the shining turd on top of crap mountain of movies based on games. The game: Bravo team of the Raccoon city police departments S.T.A.R.S branch, was sent in to investigate bizarre murder cases in the Arkalay mountains just outside of Raccoon city, people who have been bitten or eaten. When Bravo team's chopper goes down they send in Alpha team consisting of Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, a couple of others who were attacked and killed early and the Captain of the S.T.A.R.S. team Captain Albert Wesker. They discover Bravo's wreckage and find only the pilots body after being attacked by the dogs they retreat through the forest and stumble upon the Spencer Mansion, then through a series of events and scary exploration of this mansions many rooms corridors passage ways and puzzles it is discovered Captain Wesker was working for Umbrella and lured the team there as a front to cover some of the evidence of unleashing the T-Virus and release the Tyrant Monster. Wesker and the mansion are destroyed and there you have the gist of the game. Now the movie. No creepy mansion scenery or exploration no Wesker til the 3 movie, just some chick named Alice kicking zombie and monster ass. Only constant between the movie and games are the names of some characters, the company Umbrella, zombies and some of the monsters like the Licker monster in the first one and the Nemesis monster in the 2nd. You have to completely forget the games existed to enjoy the movie. I know there a lot of others out there like Silent Hill, Hitman, Mortal Kombat, Prince of Persia and some others. There were some good ones but for the most part they don't really work. I would think that part of making a movie based on a video game is to show the non gamers what an awesome story it is and the gamers their work on the live action big scree. Whatever. I picked on Resident Evil in particular because that one to me really is the most atrocious. I am a huge Assassin's Creed fan and I now hear that they are going to be filming in the spring next year. OOOOOH If they mess that one up I'm going to go straight to the makers and shove my own personal dvd up there a$$. Ok end rant.

Nobody gets sent back in time in the games? Where did they get that idea from?
