"Godzilla" Reboot Has Two New Monsters?

"Godzilla" Reboot Has Two New Monsters?Submit Comment
Warner Bros already has giant monsters in Guillermo Del Toro's "Pacific Rim," which is why many find it strange that the studio would also be working on a "Godzilla" reboot. But "Godzilla" director Gareth Edwards (Monsters) claims that his movie is very different from "Pacific Rim," because it takes place present day and examines what would happen if Godzilla actually appeared.

Now comes word from CHUD that the script goes beyond that. Apparently there will be more than one monster in the film, with two new monsters being created. The website says that the new movie will also be different from the original films and will follow "the story of a soldier."

The plan is to begin shooting in March and then release the film in conventional and 3D theaters on May 16th, 2014.

Meh. Not enough information to start hating on it yet. Cloverfield wasn't terrible, so there's a fair chance this could be as good, if not a little better. Time will tell I guess.

Yeah. I'm always ready for a Godzilla film. Good or bad. I even watch Godzillas Revenge from time to time. Willingly. A buzz helps too.

Let's hope Pacific Rim and Godzilla crossover.
That would be so f*cking tits.

Hmm. I sort of dislike whoever thinks that. We haven't enough big monster movies. But, if they aren't going to try to make it good then maybe we should keep it that way.

Gareth behind the helm gives me hope. Monsters wasn't the best film, and the first two times I tried to watch it I fell asleep, but when I finally did get through it it was entertaining. I liked it more than Cloverfield.

Hope they focus on the big G more than the Soldier character.

The only problem I see is that when you have a giant green lizard romping through a city, no matter how clever you try to dress it up, it always looks like a giant green lizard romping through a city. And I dunno if that lends itself to good film-making.

Can't they take the concept somewhere else? Maybe give the project to Blompkamp. He seems to have a unique take on things. Shake it up. Do something new, fresh. Matt Reeves tried a new take and I think it shows.

Hehe. Do the Godzilla thing, but than at the end, reveal it was just a machine piloted by some Wizard of Oz type.

Okay. I'm done.

Can't wait, can't be worse than the last one.

Monsters was a awful movie, it was just boring.

Since the Godzilla remake will follow a soldier's story, I hope the director makes the film in found footage way.

Clovefield and Chronicle were great movies.
