"The Munsters" Reboot TV Series is DeadPosted: December 28th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Several months ago, it was reported that NBC was not happy with the pilot episode for "Mockingbird Lane" TV series, which is a reboot of 1960s "The Munsters" show. At the time, producer Bryan Fuller ("Pushing Daisies") denied the news, claiming that everything was still on track.
The network ended up airing the pilot episode as a Halloween special, which received good reviews and decent ratings (5.4 million viewers). But now comes word from Fuller that the network will not proceed with "Mockingbird Lane." He wrote on Twitter: "I [write] with a heavy heart. NBC [is] not moving forward with 'Mockingbird Lane.' From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support."
As always, Fuller can probably take "Mockingbird Lane" to a different network. But by the tone of his Twitter message, it seems that he too has given up on the show.

The Munsters was 99.9% confirmed dead when they aired it on Halloween two months ago. Virtually every entertainment outlet reported it as such because no one airs a pilot they're confident in as a special on a night during which people will be out doing other stuff.
And it did not get good reviews, it got okay reviews (at best). It also did not get just "decent" ratings. It got kind of decent ratings for a FRIDAY NIGHT. Friday night ratings don't really transfer well to other nights of the week.

Yes, friday night, which was a Halloween. In other words, a creepy show full of people in costumes did barely okay on a night dedicated to to creepy people in costumes.
Guess they never had much faith in the show to begin with or they would have rolled it out on a normal night.

I don't believe they ever had any intention of giving it a series order after the Halloween airing. It was just, "Oh hey, maybe this will do better ratings than...nothing." No one watches TV on Friday nights and even fewer on a Halloween Friday. All of the 18-49s with lives will be out drinking. They never wanted to give this a chance. Which is something that Alex should've reported on two months ago when it was DOA.

At least not on that channel, on that day at that time. For now.
