"Shutter Island" Author to Name Character in Next Book After Whoever Finds His Dog

"Shutter Island" Author to Name Character in Next Book After Whoever Finds His DogSubmit Comment
Dennis Lehane, who had his books turned into such movies as "Shutter Island," Gone Baby Gone" and "Mystic River," has announced that he will name a character in his next novel after anyone who finds his lost dog.

"Our beloved dog, Tessa, jumped the fence in Brookline [Massachusetts] and has been roaming through the wilds of Coolidge Corner for the last 24 hours," Lehane wrote on Facebook. "It's possible she's staying in some good Samaritan's home right now or has tucked herself away on a porch. If anyone sees her or knows of her whereabouts, please reach out to this page. Naming of character in the next book for anyone who gets her back to us! Thank you!"

Lehane added a photo of the Tessa (pictured) and two hundred people have responded to his post. Unfortunately, the dog has yet to be returned to him.

Coincidentally, the author's next film is called "Animal Rescue," which partly focuses on a missing dog. Lehane wrote the script and the short story it's based on. The movie stars Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace and will begin filming in 2013.

Uh, let's see. Tough choice.

Keep and protect adorable, beautiful dog, or give it back to irresponsible owner and have my name used in one of the owner's terrible books, instead of getting a proper reward?

Man, how do I choose?

My spidey sense is telling me there may not be that much of a coincidence as one might otherwise believe.
