Vin Diesel Says His "Hannibal the Conqueror" Trilogy is Moving ForwardPosted: December 22nd, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Back in 2007, Vin Diesel announced that he was working on "Hannibal the Conqueror," a film about the life of Carthaginian military commander Hannibal Barca, which will be made in the original Punic language. Diesel was planning to star in the new film.
Then in 2010, the actor revealed that Tony Scott was attached to direct and that there were talks with Denzel Washington to join the cast. He also said that the story would have to become a trilogy to be told properly.
And now, Diesel has updated his Facebook account with news that the project is moving forward. He wrote: "When a dream is born in your childhood... When you spend a decade daring to pursue it... The day, a head of a studio says, 'I want to make all three films of your Hannibal trilogy!' It takes a minute to sink in. It's still sinking in."
In the movie, Diesel will star as Hannibal who led an elephant-riding battalion across the Alps to attack Rome in the 3rd Century BC. The actor is now planning to direct as well.

Is it Disney that's telling him this????? Are they high off of the star wars buyout???? They should have learned by now!!!! Get the water squirter!!! Vin needs to get in a devastating car accident that severs his penis clean off and scars the hell out of his scalp which then forces him to grow in whatever patchwork he calls a hairline. Can't wait for either that to happen, or for this project to fail worse than Lohan at a probation hearing.

Potential to be the worst trilogy and box office flops of all time? All signs point to YES!

Why can't a cinematic story be told in two movies, or four? What's so damned magical about the number three? Because it's the first prime number? Because it's the first number of stable support legs, as in 'tripod'? And if so, why do people say they need a trilogy, and then proceed to make a fourth, fifth and sixth film? Enquiring minds want to know.
As for this, I don't care. Hannibal is a relatively minor historical figure, even if he did help cement Rome's growing imperial and military power, but regardless, I think Vin wants to do it just so he can rub his d*ck on an elephant's back.

It would be cheaper to just give him a Spartacus type shoe string budget project on 'Starz'.

@Saulsilver: you're forgetting he has said he wants to come back for another XXX film too.
Next thing you know he'll try to take over the Tooth Fairy 'franchise'.

"which will be made in the original Punic language."
Brilliant idea. And Gladiator should have been in Latin with English subtitles.
Seriously, who thinks up these ideas?
