John Hawkes is obviously the replacement nominee over Joaquin Phoenix for The Master because Phoenix recently took a Brando/Scott stance against awards ceremonies and also hates carrots.

"Mink for best performance in a snuff film"
There were going to give it to your mother but a) she already "got it", and b) they don't do posthumous awards.

If there's one aspect of film making for which I couldn't care less, it's any and all award ceremonies. It's like politicians nominating and electing other politicians without the people's input.
