Kevin Smith to Direct "Clerks 3"Submit Comment
Kevin Smith has been planning to quit directing after making his "Hit Somebody" hockey film, which has since become a six-hour television mini-series. As a result, Smith decided to change his plans. He will now make "Clerks 3" his last helming effort.

Smith says that the third "Clerks" film will happen as soon as Jeff Anderson signs on. The actor, along with Brian O'Halloran, played Randal Graves and Dante Hicks in the original 1994 film. They reprised their roles in a "Clerks" animates series and then in the 2006 sequel.

The first movie was made for only $27,000 but went on to gross over $3 million in theaters. The sequel, released in 2006, grossed $27 million on a $5 million budget. It's not clear when the third film will be released.

I thought this over-rated Twinkie-scarfing fat f*ck retired.

Maybe he's getting tired of bloviating at people on stage for his podcast and boring them with his slacker lifestyle.

"It's not clear when the third film will be released."

After Kevin stops eating, aka, the line at infinity, aka his waist line.

"As a result, Smith decided to change his plans."

Ah. The meat locker from 'Rocky' Kevin uses as a refrigerator was starting to look a little bare, I see.

Not sure what could be told with Clerks 3, but I'm glad to see he found an outlet for Hit Somebody (I know that story means a lot to him).. Brian O'Halloran and Kevin Smith are 2 of the most sincere guys in film I've ever met... happy for their success and wish them the best on Clerks 3.

I donít have anything against Kevin Smith. Some of his movies are watchable enough, I suppose; Red State was a valiant effort at something different for the director. Overall, Iíve never felt bombarded by the whole Kevin Smith niche fanbase scene, so if he wants to make yet another Clerks movie, good for him.

Just goes to show a little weed goes a long way, hard to stop creativity when you're smoking pot everyday.

The funny thing is , Stapes, that he made his best movies when he was sober. Now that he smokes all day he does nothing but annoy live audiences with his one-man strokefest. If he wants to quit, that's cool. He just needs to realize that nobody gives a sh*t about his private life.

Pinkowski (the biggest and most racist douchebag on this board)

Too bad Kevin Smith accomplished more with one movie than Mink will in his lifetime.

Kevin smith struggles to remain relevant.
His movies suck, with the exception of MAYBE Mall Rats because he wasn't trying to be serious. Clerks 1 was just okay.

i actually kinda liked red state, but basically everything else kevin smith has made is awful. even the first clerks...

^Yep. And your opinion matters more to me than most on here because you actually went to film school and work in the biz instead of just lounging in your grandmothers armchair eating junk food like most of these so-called movie fans.

IDK about CLERK 3...I'm a fan of the View Askew Universe, but would only be onboard if Smith had really had something to say. I want this guy to do it if his humorous raunchy bad-mouth heart is into it. I just wouldn't him to f*ck up closing this trilogy leaving a bad taste in the mouth on his way out. I just think there is no need at this point, on CLERKS anyway, to add anything. He pretty much closed part II nicely.

Anyway, I hope he has his mojo back on trying to get one more in for the fans. His humor is really niche and I see him a director more of the people. A geek at heart (and behind the camera) and actually has fun in talking to the fans about movies, his life or on his way up in the biz as a different voice.

Although his branching out hasn't gone the way he's wanted and if he can make something similar to the part I or JAY & SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK...it would be nice to have him come full circle as a thank you and goodbye for the fans with the movie that first got his foot in the door of HWood.

Hoping for a balls out, crazy as sh*t movie from that funny fat f*ck Smith.
