"Pacific Rim" Sequel Already in the WorksSubmit Comment
Warner Bros is planning to release Guillermo Del Toro's "Pacific Rim" sci-fi film on July 12th, 2013. But now comes word that the studio has hired Travis Beacham, who wrote the script for the first movie, to begin work on the sequel.

"Pacific Rim" centers on a defense force consisting of giant robots controlled by human pilots, who are fighting to save humanity from gigantic monsters invading from an another dimension.

Del Toro will co-write the sequel script with Beacham. It's not clear if he once again plans to direct. On Monday, the helmer committed to directing the haunted-house movie "Crimson Peak," which will go in front of cameras in January 2014.

I'm starting to get the feeling, with all these film sequels getting green-lit before audiences can even decide if they like the first one, the studios have pretty much already decided what we're going to watch, what we're going to like, and how much we're going to pay.

Basically, Hollywood is becoming government.

Whoa....slow down there Warner Bros. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. I'm still waiting for the sequel to that guaranteed franchise starter Remo Williams.

Hah! One of Hollywood's classic syndromes. Counting the chicks before they hatched.

Remember the time Hollywood greenlit sequels to Green Lantern and Battlefield Earth?

That turned out well.

Avirex, LoL!!!!

By the way, instead of this and it's sequel and the remake of the Eddy Murphy haunted mansion flick, he should be adapting that little Lovecraft novella, then that would be it.

Or do his Saturn at the End of the World script.

Anyone read any of the books written in collaboration with that writer Chuck Hogan?

its the first real 'live' movie about humans piloting robots, expect f*cking 12 spinoffs and 7 lower budget remakes in the next 6 months
