Jamie Foxx Explains Electro's Origins in "The Amazing Spider-Man" Sequel

Jamie Foxx Explains ElectroSubmit Comment
Sony Pictures has finally confirmed that Jamie Foxx has officially signed on to play Electro in the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man" sequel. In a recent interview Foxx spoke about why he wants to play the role.

"Electro is a great character," he said. "I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he's a genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world. And the next thing you know he turns it on."

In addition to Foxx, the new movie stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn.

Beware the genius electrician-type person! Especially if he teams up with the evil plumber-type mastermind!!!

LOL Phil!!! Was thinking the same thing. Sounds very sinister Jamie. Genius electrician-type....scary scary.

This is gonna suck. As long as Marc Webb is directing, I'm not interested. He should be directing Lifetime tv movies. f*ck you Sony and Columbia Pictures.

Like most Hollywood hacks he didn't read the script, he just saw the check. In his defense though the movie will still be sh*tty even he went full retard or full tranny (Wanda?).

Funny, Foxx gave the same quote about his role in "Ray."

"Ray Charles is a great character," he said. "I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he's a genius musician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world. And the next thing you know heturns it on."

Black Tesla?

Nicola Tesla's evil twin, DeShawn Tesla.

"He's a playa, he's a hustla, he's a Tesla, bitch! Can you dig it?"

"Beware the genius electrician-type person!"

Obviously he's a yet another wildly exaggerated homage to Nikolai Tesla, who has taken on preposterous proportion in people's minds. They see him as some sort of Einstein of electricity, the inventor of a variety of magical devices the government and oil industry has conspiratorially suppressed to keep us all hooked on fossil fuels.

In essence, he's the modern day Merlin the magician, the guy who can make gold from lead, and the lead people don't like him.

It's all bullsh*t, of course. And so is this sequel.

Although I really didn't like Webb's whiz, bang over substance, I gotta say this is what Spiderman's rogue gallery should've started with.

I could see Raimi starting with the Lizard/ Gwen Stacy as part 1, continuing with Electro/ Rhino (introduction of MJ), and ending with Sandman/ Vulture (or Kraven..he's SFX cheaper)/ Goblin (origins in flashback). Push the plots harder and get a back to back two movie deal with Venom and Carnage as (part 4 and 5)...the beauty of Spiderman is his ability to overcome each time he's put in over his head, making it harder and harder to come up on top. Sh*t if it was me, I would change his outfit every outing making it like Ditko in one, McFarlanes in another...etc. (which Webb said Spiderman will have his costume changed on Part 2...or so he says)

And hell, why stop there? Make a stand alone pic of Spiderman 2099.

Did all that you could with the original Spiderman? Then you move on to the new, updated biracial kid, or the Scarlett Spider, hell, even the one where it's Parker's daughter...

Anyway, that's just me. There's still some good juice to be squeezed in the Spiderman lemon. I really don't see Sony giving back Spidey to Marvel anytime soon, but with our luck, in 10-15 years (even less?) they'll REBOOT THE WHOLE THING ALL OVER AGAIN!!

Electro was always my favorite Spiderman villain from the comics, so I'm pretty pumped about this! Jamie Foxx does seem like an odd casting choice though. I guess we'll just have to trust Marc Webb...he just better not f*ck it up!
GreenLensman writes:

why not create your own villain, OH here's an idea "Tree Man" he wants to save the trees so he kills everyone he sees who wastes paper products. With his power to create wood from his c*ck whenever he thinks of someone barfing on his d*ck, he quickly starts mass murdering paper wasters with his pine d*ck and lumber f*cks their corpses with splintering trauma, other alias include "Cypress Kill" "Cherry Choker" "the Cedar Beater" "Splatternut" "Devilwood" and "f*ckthorn"
