Five Actors in Talks for Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" LeadPosted: November 29th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Marvel is moving forward with its "Guardians of the Galaxy" film, and is now in the process of casting the role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord, the Guardians leader who is the son of a human mother and an alien father.
Deadline has learned that the studio is already testing a small group of actors to play the role. On that list are Joel Edgerton (Warrior), Jack Huston ("Boardwalk Empire"), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (Lincoln) and Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables). The site also heard that Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), James Marsden (X-Men), and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom) are being considered.
Quill leads a group of alien superheroes who team to protect the solar system from an evil alien race. The good guys are from the future, and another dimension. In the comics, the Guardians worked with The Avengers.
The new movie is directed by James Gunn (Super, Slither) and is set to hit theaters on August 1st, 2014.

Sounds like Marvel's attempt at a Star Wars-lite movie before the next actual Star Wars ...which, by the way, will also likely be Star Wars-lite.
And so the franchise gears grind on.

I saw a poster for Dreamworks Rise of the Guardians and thought it was this. Couldn't believe how far from the cool concept art they'd gone by actually using people instead of animals. I hope the Marvel film does stay close to the picture that was shown before:

Looks pretty cool.

@Cinemaisdead
That does look pretty rad. Was never a hardcore fan of Marvel but I always appreciated the more bizarre, fringe characters of the cannon, especially absurd concepts like Rocket Raccoon, who’s not a satire like, say, Howard the Duck, but rather played straight. It would take some balls for Hollywood to adapt that faithfully to the big screen.
Then again, this is Disney: talking animals is not exactly off the reservation.

Cannon- Yeah I've only ever read a few graphic novels with Marvel characters, couldn't really care less about any super hero films coming out with guys in tights and capes any more. But if this is done right it would just be a cool sci-fi film. I think Disney are heading in the right direction in terms of quality and hopefully won't just decide to aim this at a younger audience, but by the looks of the director and his previous (f*cked up) films, they won't!

Honestly, the five actors that are in talks, no-one makes me jump up and say "yes, it's him". Same with the thrie actors that are considered but they are better than the 5 though.

"The good guys are from the future, and another dimension."
Because time in one dimension is equivalent to time in another dimension, right?
Doesn't even make any f*cking sense.
If you're from "another dimension", time there isn't even comparable to time here.
I mean, how the f*ck do you compare time across different "dimensions" unless there's a common point of reference, and there isn't, because then there wouldn't be different dimensions to begin with.
Who writes this trash?
