Hugh Jackman in Talks for "X-Men: First Class" Sequel

Posted: November 29th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Hugh Jackman in Talks for "X-Men: First Class" SequelSubmit Comment
Director Bryan Singer recently announced that in addition to James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, the upcoming "X-Men: First Class" sequel, called "X-Men: Days of Future Past," will also bring back Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen as Professor X and Magneto.

Now comes word that Hugh Jackman is in talks to reprise his Wolverine role in the movie. The character is a main part of the "Days of Future Past" comic book storyline, but it's not clear if Jackman will have a major role in the film or just a cameo, like in "X-Men: First Class."

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" has Kitty Pryde sending her mind back to her younger self in order to warn the X-Men that Senator Robert Kelly's assassination will result in a future where Sentinels rule the United States and mutants live in internment camps.

The new movie will begin shooting in January of 2013, and will then hit theaters on July 18th, 2014.

Well if this is a prequel to the other X Men films doesn't Wolverine meet Xavier and all the other people for the first time in Syngers first X Men. So it's either gotta be a cameo or he never actually sees the other mutants.

Another Wolverine movie? Why am I not surprised? Hell, Jackman should say to Singer "go f*ck yourself"!
Janus writes:

Well, Cinemaisdead, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" plays after X3 and before X1. That's why the actors of the X-Men trilogy are in the future part of the movie and the cast of "X-Men: First Class" is in the past part of the movie. Got it? And just to remember everbody, it was Ratner who messed up X3 and it was Singer who is internationally and critically praised for X1 and X2.

''Go f*ck yourselves'' = 1 million $. Guess he could say few more words and get billionaire this time.

Well of course he'll be in it.
minkowski writes:

"it was Ratner who messed up X3"

It was Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn who wrote that bullsh*t, not Bret Ratner. You know, the same Kinberg who's set to write one of the new Star Wars sequels.

Stop blaming Ratner for every f*cking thing that went wrong with that stupid film.

And you still didn't answer Cinema's question. How can Wolverine meet Xavier in the new X-Men if, as we've already seen, he meets him for the first time in Singer's first X-Men?

Try answering the question next time.
Janus writes:
on November 29th, 2012 at 4:03:15 PM

minkowski, that question is so easy but probably wasn't clear enough. Wolverine gets to know Xavier in X1. Xavier doesn't forget Wolverine in X2 and not in X3. Now "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is two movies in one. It is X4 and also the sequel of "X-Men: First Class". In the X4 part of the movie Xavier still remembers Wolverine. Since Wolverine is not a time traveller Xavier will not meet Wolverine in the sequel part of "X-Men: First Class". All in all, Wolverine future, not past, doesn't meet Xavier in the past 'cos that's before X1. As easy understandable as a child's book.
Janus writes:

...and if the writers don't want to have the easy way, they still can use teh regular time travel answer that fits all question: time travel always includes a paradox.

"time travel always includes a paradox."

No, time travel always includes the *potential* for a paradox, which is almost always left resolved in some fashion, unless the writers know the intended audience is either too stupid or lazy to expect resolution, e.g., Looper, Primer...

Granted, most time travel films revolve around a paradox, like Star Trek: First Contact, or Back to the Future, but some do not, like The Time Machine with Pearce and Irons. Or Star Trek: The Voyage Home, which was really just a case study in lazy production values. But I digress.

@ cinemaisdead comment at the top

thats not entirely true, if kitty pryde sent a message from the future she could tell them to get wolverine to help them, therefore making Xavier and Wolverine see eachother alot sooner

DriveMemento writes:

on a side note

you have to really give props to Hugh Jackman for really turning himself into the wolverine. Constantly getting in better physical shape then the last movie. Most actors would have just sat on those millions and worried about CGI hiding there pot belly. You would have never seen tobe Macguire turn himself into a ripped machine for the spider man role, in fact he got fat for the third one.

1.first contact - 8/10
2.the voyage home - 7.5/10
3.the undiscovered country - 7/10
4.wrath of khan - 6.5/10
5.motion picture - 6/10

all the others were pretty much crap

^^Pretty much spot on.

"Didnt know till last week the creator of Primer had his hand in Looper"

Yeah, a thanks for his help on some effects I think, but the fact he was even anywhere near the set explains why Looper make no f*cking sense.

And it doesn't, and I dare anyone to prove me wrong.

http://collider.com/shane-carruth-looper/70937/

lol. I like how people call Primer "hard" science fiction. lol. Why? Because Carruth made the entire film such a convoluted contrivance by the film's end, you don't know what's going on, so you chalk it up to brilliance?

So brilliant he doesn't explain how the film concludes with multiple copies of the same people?

That's not time travel. That's a typical Jean Claude van Damme movie wherein he plays himself, his clone *and* the villain.

And no, has nothing to do with any feelings of "envy".

Primer is a lot taking someone, putting them on a carousel, and spinning them at high angular velocity, because the disoriented dizziness is pretty much how you feel by the time Primer's credit roll.

"thats not entirely true, if kitty pryde sent a message from the future she could tell them to get wolverine to help them, therefore making Xavier and Wolverine see eachother alot sooner"

Which would thus alter the events in X-Men 1-3, which, as I have speculated, is perhaps the point: Marvel's end-run around FOX to get the franchise rebooted properly in line with the rest of Marvel's universe.
DriveMemento writes:

@minkowski

your right, I like that the new wolverine movie is going to be basically a reboot.

There is just so much you can do with the X-men universe. As messed up and out of order all the films are, and the fact that the story lines that connect with eachother dont really make sense anymore lol I really like the sound of X-men Days of fute past, seems like a good story and we've all been waiting for the sentinals, at least I have.

"You would have never seen tobe Macguire turn himself into a ripped machine for the spider man role"

Actually DriveMomento, Maguire did workout for SPIDER-MAN as seen since the very beginning as seen when he wakes up at first on discovering his new superpowers & says something like "...change? Yeah, there's some change". That's actually his toned body (the skinny, frail one before he falls in bed is Maguire's face inserted in a skinny body.)

In the video from 2:04 to 2:33, he tells the reporter his exercise schedule.

But I agree DriveMemento, actors that go the extra mile have my respect...Cheers, mate.
