When it was first announced that Disney acquired the rights to "Star Wars" with plans of releasing "Star Wars: Episode 7" during the Summer of 2015, it was rumored that Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) will be directing.
Then Vaughn dropped out of the "X-Men: First Class" sequel, creating further speculation that he's busy working on "Star Wars." Mark Millar, the creator of "Wanted" and "Kick-Ass" comic books later said that Vaughn left the "First Class" sequel to focus on his "Secret Service" movie.
And now, actor Jason Flemyng, who appeared in nine of Vaughn's films, including all four of his helming efforts, revealed that Vaughn will be directing "Star Wars: Episode 7." Upon realizing that Vaughn's confirmation has yet to be announced, Flemyng awkwardly attempted to backtrack.
Watch the video below (at 1:07 mark) to see his response.
I would say, "Really, Alex?", but since many other websites are also taking this as confirmation, I'll hold off on just being disappointed in how this site reports "news".
If anything at all, it's just confirmation that Vaughn is interested (and who wouldn't be interested in directing Star Wars), though it's hardly confirmation that he's directing it. Just look at the way he jokingly said "bar the deal", that wasn't a backtrack, he was just joking and saying, "Yeah, anyone would be interested, except for that they don't have a deal to do it." You can even hear one of the reporters say, "Who isn't, come on." after someone asks if Matthew is interested in Star Wars.
Matthew Vaughn wouldn't be my first choice but he would nowhere near be my last. c*ckneys in space!!

Well I say Jesus Christ will direct Star Wars 7, and if you knew my real name, not my minkowski moniker, you'd know I appear in more than seven of the New Testament gospels, so who you gonna believe, the guy with the sh*tty James Bond last name, or the guy who helped write Revelations?
Yeah bitches. Eat that.
