Concept Art: See What Bane Almost Looked Like in The Dark Knight RisesSubmit Comment
"The Dark Knight Rises" is set to be released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 4th and will come with a bunch of concept art from the film. Today we have some of that concept art, giving us a look at several early designs for Bane's look.

Bane looked like a Mexican wrestler in "Batman and Robin," and it looks like Christopher Nolan considered a similar look for "The Dark Knight Rises." But the mask eventually evolved into more of a metallic mouth piece.

Check out everything below, in addition to a photo of Hardy as Bane before the actor's tattoos were digitally removed.

The pictured mask is cool along side the mask that was used, although it kinda looks like a Gimp. The second picture looks like the walrus man on Star Wars.

Cool. He looks like Spiderman's dominatrix wrestler girlfriend.

Or a gimp

What the hell is a gimp?

Ah. Got it. A Pulp Fiction reference.

What a bunch of crap! Whoever did those concept designs need to leave Hollywood now.

TDKR really was gonna be a tragedy from the start.

Is that The Man from the Collector?

That's the gayest looking bane I ever seen.

^ ^ My exact same thoughts.

It can't be gayer than this.

I would've wanted an amalgam of the comic's cool mask and the ability to bulk up, with minimal/ subtle CGI or prosthesis (if wanting a fact based, possibly based on steroids?) instead of the "breathing/ pain management" apparatus...

At the end of the film, he could unmask himself and go "mano a mano" with Batman showing his present (Bane TDKR) mask & make it an epic, drag out dirty fighting...ending with Batman beating & outsmarting Bane with choke holds/ grappling & submitting him with taking off his mask....

That's the ending I would've wanted to see....

Like I've said before, the original's Bane death was anticlimactic & Bruce Wayne passing the torch was a copout or maybe seen as Nolan stopping the saga by "taking his ball and going home". Wayne looked weak & missed the essence of his character...determination bordering on obsession to fight crime.

I don't necessarily hate the original ending, but Nolan concentrated more on the desires of the man and missed what has made him legendary. Nolan could've left the trilogy in more of a balls out, triumphant ending for the saga to continue...

In TDKR, Nolan passed Batman's torch to JGL's character, but what he should've done was to up the ante & pass the torch to the next director to mantain Batman's grittiness/ darkness and avoid further BATMAN AND ROBIN movies, IMHO.

Would have been interesting. I still like the one they used though.

They totally f*cked it up with his voice, he sounds so f*cking stupid. I cant even watch the movie because of the voice.

Am I the only one around here who got really pissed by what they've done with Bane's voice???
