Sam Mendes Turned Down "The Avengers," But Would He Direct "Justice League"?Posted: November 19th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Sam Mendes (Skyfall) recently revealed that he turned down the chance to direct "The Avengers," because Marvel set a release date for the film before there was even a script. He felt that the studio was rushing production.
Now in an interview with Collider, the director is asked whether he would like the chance to bring "Justice League of America" to the big screen. "I've never felt that that ['Justice League'] was in my comfort zone," he said. "What I love about ['James Bond' franchise] is that it has a basis in reality. Everything is a real, physical special effect, and it's supplemented by visual effects. But when your basic storytelling is on blue screen, I would be lost. I love real people; actors in real spaces. If you take that away, I would find it very difficult."
When asked if there are any comic book movies in his future, Mendes replied: "I don't see it, but it depends how it's handled. There are some comic book movies like 'The Dark Knight' or the second 'X-Men' movie for example that didn't feel as if they were set in an entirely fantasy universe and they were inspiring to me because I thought that somehow you could see they were possible to make."

In response Sam Mendes used roughly 120 words to say "No".

Alejandro Jodorowsky actually wrote a script based on the Grant Morrison run in JLA.
A movie which was going to be directed by Federico Fellini in a parallel universe,
Although doesn't matter how many parallelism are out there, Fellini died very early on into the production so the film has being shelved forever.

I like how the dolt mindlessly says TDK didn't appear to be set entirely inside a fantasy world, even though Begins was far more grounded, as was TDKR, if you're honest, and then he goes on to talk about X-Men 2, as if there's this huge gap in credibility between the first and the second, as if mutants with supernatural powers aren't already total f*cking fantasy.
Dude maybe a decent film-maker, but he's otherwise a total moron.
Just be quiet Mendes and make movies.

yeah, kurskij: it would have been great if Hollywood make a Jodorowsky film.
One time Marilyn Manson approached him to make a movie based on his album holy-wood, but they never got the money, then it was King-Shot to be produced by David Lynch, and that didn't came out also.
He's in the final touches of his Dance of Reality movie based on two books of his.
After that probably he's going to make a sequel to El Topo.
