The Spock character doesn't fare well, does he? The first one died in Star Trek 2, this one may not make it past the second sequel either, although in this case, Quinto didn't do three years on television beforehand.

Anyway, I never saw this Star Trek iteration going far anyway. Little demand for it, and with the new Star Wars coming out, I don't see that demand increasing. First one was kind of a one-shot anyway. People still in love with Abrams' Skittles colored cinema pastiche. Not sure that's still the case.

Fact is, Star Trek's original hype was born of the dreams of John Kennedy, and the moon shot, and the hopes of a nation, and the world, and the future of mankind in space.

That and trumping the Soviets.
