Sony Pictures has unveiled the trailer for "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," which is based on the first book in the best-selling series and stars Lily Collins, Jaime Campbell Bower, Lena Headey, Jared Harris, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Check it out below.

Plot: Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Collins), discovers she is the descendant of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.

The new movie is directed by Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid) and is set to hit theaters on August 23rd, 2013.

This guy from Camelot is one of the lamest actor around now. I have no idea why he keeps getting work.

Looks like Hollywood put Lily Collins in the penalty box for starring opposite of Kitsch in John Carter.

Hah!

That was Lynn Collins, Mink. Lilly Collins is the daughter of Phil "bangthedrumquickly" Collins.

From what chics have told me Twilight's not like the books either
Hollywood is finding books that have anything to do with the occult and givin them the Twilight treatment.

It's amazing how every one of these adaptations is somehow inferior to the best-selling fantasy garbage that it's based on. Although this one seems somehow even worse than usual. The paint-by-numbers 'ancient-power-great-evil-you-teenager-are-the-only-one-who-can-save-the-world-from-blah-blah-blah-curse.'

As long as there are untalented good-looking young actors, talented Britishy older actors willing to slum it for a paycheck, and idiot teenagers turning every bad romance novel with worse supernatural elements into a bestseller...these movies will continue to exist.

All these movies based on mediocre books, and there still is no news on Skulduggery Pleasant.
