"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" Reveals Plot Synopsis and Start DateSubmit Comment
20th Century Fox is already in pre-production on its "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" sequel, called "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," and is planning to begin filming in March of 2013. The studio is currently searching for its cast, and along with character descriptions (which we don't have), it also sent out a plot summary. Check it out below.

Plot: "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" continues the story of how ultra-intelligent simian Caesar (Andy Serkis) presides over the fall of human civilization. After the apes break out of their facility, a virus breaks out that causes the collapse of human society. The new project is taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society's new rulers.

Rupert Wyatt, the director of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," will not return for the sequel. He has been replaced by Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield). The new movie is set to hit theaters on May 23rd, 2014.

I don't like Reeves much at all.

So the Monkeys break out, and a a virus conviently manifests itself and wipes out humanity?

That's nice. I guess that makes more sense than having the apes themselves wipe out humanity, since there are a lot more men than apes, and there was a limited supply of that brain serum.

It would be cool if they had it as Caesar crafted the virus himself and set it out upon humanity.

I would have made a hell of a lot more sense to not have rebooted the franchise, considering the original series was predicated on mankind being wiped out by nuclear war, which is a hell of a lot more likely than a virus that just miraculously kills humans, and yet magically mutates the intelligence of the primate most genetically related to mankind, seemingly because the idea a band of spear-chucking, deep-gestating primates could wipe out a superior species wielding nukes, rocket launchers and the Nintendo Wii Remote is just too f*cking fantastically for even the typical moron-minded candy-chomping modern moviegoer.

Wait. This movie is starting to sound a lot like Amistad.

Artistic liscence is a copout for to get ignoramous' to cough up more dough to see the same movie done in a retarded way
I liked the first one but ITS NOT HOW IT ALL HAPPENED!

Hollywood sees something innocent and beautiful and it offers it candy from its black van and rapes it for 15 years till its used up or until Hollywood gets busted

@ pornfly, you pretty much described hollywood as a rapist, of good material...and i could not agree more, i was reading some other posts in other articles and thought i'd bring up another movie from 1987 nobody mentioned yet that i'm glad there's no sequel or remake to and still think to this day is a great flick, 'Innerspace'

^Somebody just read that comment and decided to remake Innerspace now. Way to give them the idea!
