New Poster for Sam Raimi's "Wizard of Oz" Prequel

New Poster for Sam RaimiSubmit Comment
Walt Disney Pictures has unveiled the first of three new posters for Sam Raimi's "Oz The Great and Powerful," which is a "Wizard of Oz" prequel that stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams. Check it out below and see the movie in theaters on March 8th.

Plot: When Oscar Diggs (Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Kunis), Evanora (Weisz) and Glinda (Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting.

Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Nice poster, but it'll be a tough sell as a prequel to a classic. I still see THE WIZARD OF OZ & boggles the mind of the songs, scenery & the characters...just...wow!

Okay, okay. Stop masturbating. Just reboot the original film, Disney. Everyone knows you want to, just do it already.

Hell, I'm actually very surprised someone hasn't already, like, you know, Burton...

I was thinking del Toro or Jackson. They each have a skill for creating lush, fantastical worlds, right?

It seems raimi is trying to make Alice in wonderland 2.0 instead.

Del Toro I find Horrible with Story Telling. JAckson Would be good doh. I Think Cuaron is the best storyteller When it comes to direction of the 3 doh.

Leave the original alone and tackle one of the other 13 books of the original canon! There's so much more Disney could do if they committed to their Return to OZ approach. This prequel looks like they might be trying something like that. Baum's books are dark as hell (under the layer of children's story fairy dust) and it would be great to see some of the other lands and characters brought to life.
