New "The Wolverine" Poster, Plus More Story DetailsSubmit Comment
Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold participated in a web chat where they answered some questions about "The Wolverine." Check out the highlights below, in addition to a new poster.

Mangold said that the movie takes place after the events of all the other "X-Men" films, but is also separate from the franchise in order to avoid fitting into the storylines that have already been established.

Jackman explained that while working on the previous installments, he never had enough time to get in proper physical shape. This time, he said that Wolverine will look frightening, with muscles and veins, to represent the animal that he is.

The movie focuses on the fact that Wolverine is immortal, but will also reveal the character's "kryptonite." There will be other mutants and the most action in the franchise. Mangold added that the villain will be a bit of a mystery throughout the film.

Sat after all the other X-Men films, but not Old Man Wolvie, so that means then a sh*t-load of flashbacks, I guess, because how else does he have bone claws?

I'm not digging it.

They could have gone hard-core with this character, could have made it awesome full of bass-ass moves and lots of witty one-liners with dangling cigars, no Freudian slip, but they instead took the weak, watered-down listless direction.

Kind of a waste imo, and the Wolvie scene in First Class is really the character at his most genuine, really. Kind of sucks.

they need to give him the yellow and blue suit with his mask imagine him in a movie with his original gear that would look so badass

some Chinese ink or watercolor painting Japanese style, seems a cool poster, sadly a cool poster doesn't make a good movie, just to say the least.

the first movie was a total waste, bad script, yeah it looked tremendously great, but crappy script, badly developed characters, not even the action pieces were fun to watch.

I wonder why they are making this a stand alone picture, so was it such a well done film in every aspect or, it is what I was always suspecting?

A sh*tty movie.

" You don't want to hurt my feelings!"
Arnold Voslo's best role imo.

As for this, it can't be any worse than Origins, or can it?

^^not much can top Origins, what a piece of sh*t that was...The movie studio's desperation to get Wolverine involved in any "X-men timeline" is at an all time high. Really sucks!!

The more I hear, the more meh this sounds...

I had already reservations about Mangold. He was the "iffy" part of this equation...kinda sounds it's gonna suck. (Really hope I'm wrong)

Jackman had all the advantages to help put a great Wolverine story/ saga together. Different directors & writers just don't seem to get the character....

Jackman's a great actor, the best shape with the right attitude, but...if this doesn't work, Jackman should really hang up the claws...let somebody else get a chance to do something else with the character...happened to Hulk & it helped reenergize & evolve the character, IMO.

I love when The Brimley Beetis Beast indulges in his Moonshine and then shoots flaming arrows on a horse at the bad guys.

I must have rewound that scene at least 100 times because I was laughing so hard at it.

Cool poster.

I think the film will be a flasback for Wolverine.

"that the movie takes place after the events of all the other "X-Men" films, but is also separate from the franchise in order to avoid fitting into the storylines that have already been established."

I hope the timeline is done right and show how Wolverine became the angry mutant he is.

Also if the film is R rated and Wolverine has awesome moments, I'm in.
