"Paranormal Activity" Producer Developing Stephen King's "Gramma" FilmPosted: October 26th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Universal Pictures and producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) have team up to bring Stephen King's "Gramma" short story to the big screen. Frances O'Connor (AI) will star, while Peter Cornwell (The Haunting in Connecticut) will direct from a script by Matt Greenberg (1408, Reign of Fire).
The story, which is part of King's 1985 short story collection "Skeleton Key," follows two young boys who go with their single mother (O'Connor) to take care of their elderly, senile grandmother named Mercy, only to discover that she's a witch who made an evil pact with a dark force many years before.
"Gramma" was previously turned into a "Twilight Zone" episode back in 1986.

Is this a good idea?
Im not so sure because the Jewsuits have been scraping up anything remotely related to horror since Paranormal Activity

Another horror movie, really?
Anywhoo, since I cannot comment directly on that thread...
...I'm more interested in the fact that Dustin actually gave a movie 10/10

"Dustin actually gave a movie 10/10"
Of course he did. It was directed in part by one of his own kind.
As for the news, *shrug*. Lots of stories in King's library they can milk for movies. Plenty to be remade, like The Mangler, the Langoliers, The Stand and IT.
Stephen King's estate will be making easy money for decades to come, no doubt.

The last King book I read, years ago, was Insomnia. It was good, and I heard for years that it was "in the pipeline" for a big-screen treatment. I think it would be good for film, with a top-notch director.

Jason Blum knows how to produce great horror films that go on to being HORROR MASTERPIECES.

Saw the episode in the Twilight Zone and read the story. Even I consider a much better writing than an adaptation of source material. All I can say, this only will worked out if they go ala Rear Window or Disturbia, in other case just f*cked it!

like mink said
plenty of king's books can be adapted easily enough and plenty that could be remade
so this story is of little shock
