"The Wolverine" is NOT a Prequel, New Photo Shows Wolverine with Bone Claws

"The Wolverine" is NOT a Prequel, New Photo Shows Wolverine with Bone ClawsSubmit Comment
Today we have a new photo from Empire magazine showing Hugh Jackman as the title character in "The Wolverine." What's interesting about the photo is that it shows Wolverine with his bone claws, which he had before the indestructible adamantium was bonded to his skeleton.

At the same time, director James Mangold revealed that the film will not be a prequel to the original "X-Men" trilogy. "Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all," he said. "Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there's a tremendous sense of isolation for him."

That's a bit strange, considering that the photo shows Wolverine prior to adamantium, the movie takes place during WWII and a post-credits scene from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" set up the entire Japan story.

Mangold went on to explain that "The Wolverine" is better described as a stand-alone story, stating: "I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it."

yeah, that would be better if this folks adapt the storyline as stand alone graphic novel type all movies should be this way, or do some else-world kind of sh*t, into movie form, that will be better than the back-to-back crap! Thanks!

FOX really has done a total FUBAR on the Wolverine/X-Men franchise, I'll give them that.

Looks like Wolverine is about to have his very own "jump without the rope" moment.

Prisoner: Yes, to escape from the prison you must make the same jump a 10 yr old girl made!

Wolverine: Really? Thats gonna be hard! It might take a few times.

Oh FFS! Here we go again. Just give the X-Men rights back to Marvel, Fantastic Four too while you are at it. If FOX keep breaking their toys, they should have to give them back.

And while we are at it, YOU HEAR THAT SONY? Give Spider-Man back too.

They are making a real mess of this franchise. How is this happening around world war 2 and after origins and after xmen trilogy??
Maybe the next one will be in the future ....as a prequel

I didn't understand how Gayverine gets his bone claws again, so in this movie they remove the adamantium, is there going to be a Gandalf Cameo?

I can only assume there are gonna be a lot of flashback scenes.

Ain't Magneto steal his adanmantium skeleton in the Marvel universe at some point ?

You would think that he has travelled to Japan to recall his past. In doing so, he is challenged while being taught the trained as in the Japan storyline and the film uses flashbacks to a time prior to the Adamantium he was put through similar situations.

Are people that dumb? It seems pretty obvious that this is going to be a sequel with flashbacks worked into it. Doesn't the plot reference something like 'a mystery from Logan's past'?...it being a sequel with flashbacks is the only rationale I can see to make this work.
