James Cameron Plans to Direct "The Informationist" After "Avatar 3"Posted: October 23rd, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Not too long ago, James Cameron revealed that he will no longer produce other people's movies and will instead stick to directing "Avatar" films. Apparently that has changed, because his Lightstorm Entertainment production company has now acquired the rights to Taylor Stevens' "The Informationist" book, which Cameron plans to direct for 20th Century Fox. The plan is to begin shooting after Cameron completes the next two "Avatar" films.
The story centers on Vanessa Munroe, an information specialist, who is hired by a Texas oil billionaire to find his daughter who vanished in Africa four years ago. Munroe finds herself back in the lands of her childhood. Betrayed, cut off from civilization, and left for dead, she must come face-to-face with the past that she's tried for so long to forget.
"Vanessa Munroe is an intriguing and compelling heroine with an agile mind and a thirst for adventure," said Cameron. "Equally fascinating for me is her emotional life and her unexpected love story. I'm looking forward to bringing Vanessa and her world to the big screen." Producer Jon Landau added that the character is "a mix of Lisbeth Salander and Jason Bourne."
A second Vanessa Munroe novel, called "The Innocent," was published earlier this year.

Hell, I'll gladly take this over Avatar sequels. Something more modern age but still high-tech, but also a survivalist action adventure. And hopefully R-rated. It could be like a more serious version of True Lies.
There's still a good director somewhere inside James Cameron, and this could be the kind of film that could bring him back to his edgier self.
