In "Iron Man 2," Tony Stark's friend James "Rhodey" Rhodes put on his War Machine suit to help Iron Man save the day. But when the world was threatened in "The Avengers," War Machine was nowhere to be found.
Now comes word that the first issue of "Marvel's Iron Man 3 Prelude," a two-part prequel comic book to "Iron man 3," will hit stores in January and reveal why War Machine didn't join the fight in "The Avengers."
"As Tony Stark prepares for his next venture, he tasks War Machine with a mission of his own," said Marvel. "War Machine faces his biggest test as a hero, while Iron Man takes on the Battle of New York."
Meanwhile, check out new War Machine concept art from "Iron Man 3," showing Rhodey's old suit with is new Iron Patriot armor.
