Christoph Waltz is Mikhail Gorbachev in "Reykjavik"Posted: October 16th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
We recently reported that Michael Douglas will play former US president Ronald Reagan in "Reykjavik," a film that tells the story of the famous meeting in Iceland's capital between Regan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev that signaled the end of the Cold War.
Variety has now learned that Gorbachev will be played by Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds). Director Mike Newell (Prince of Persia, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) said: "I feel very fortunate to have two such masters to portray the men who brought about the end of the third great war of the 20th century."
Producer Ridley Scott added: "The film will offer the viewer a unique look into two larger-than-life figures who served as the catalysts for one of the most defining moments in our history, the end of the Cold War."

"A German imitating the Russian accent, that should be promising."
They're both hard, ugly languages (which is why they're my favorites), so I suspect perhaps more promising than you may think.
"I feel very fortunate to have two such masters to portray the men who brought about the end of the third great war of the 20th century."
Right. And the next time my shotgun forces a burglar back out of my house, I'll be sure the cops applaud the bandit for his assistance in concluding the crime.
f*cking left-wing idiots.

As a German, Waltz gifted with his languages skills and I'm sure he'll catch up quite well. However, it's much easier for an Eastern European like Rade Serbedzija aka Boris The Blade as he just has to adjust his pronunciation like he did in The Saint.

German playing a Russian...
Waltz playing Gorbachev because the look so much alike down to the shape of the damn skull.
Brilliant. Everyone everywhere outside Russia care about Gorby much more than people do inside the country it seems.
sh*thead (no offense, just observation) makes enough money selling Louis Vuitton anyway.

Signaled the end of the Cold War.
Uhuh, things went smoothly after that and Belovejskaya pusha aside from f*cking tanks shooting at white house and 10 years of Middle Ages that followed.

It would be funny to have the Gorbachev birth-mark beside the swastika.

Right. Like I want to see Gorby giving George Bush head.

^^Actually I was just kidding as Christoph is the same actor from Inglorious Basterds and now this Reykjavik - both sharing cool head decals. But your reference is just as amusing.
