Snoopy and Charlie Brown Return in New "Peanuts" MovieSubmit Comment
20th Century Fox is bringing back Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang for a new animated "Peanuts" movie that will hit theaters in 2015, which marks the 65th anniversary of the debut of the "Peanuts" comic strip and the 50th anniversary of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" television special.

The screenplay has been written by Craig Schulz, son of Charles Schulz, the creator of the comic strip. Steve Martino (Ice Age: Continental Drift, Horton Hears a Who) is on board to direct.

"Peanuts" is the most popular and influential comic strip of all time. It was read everyday by 355 million people in 75 countries. In addition to the famous strip, "Peanuts" holiday television specials such as "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" have won Emmy's and continue to be among the highest-rated TV specials.

"We have been working on this project for years," said Craig Schulz. "We finally felt the time was right and the technology is where we need it to be to create this film."

Good for them showing back up.

"the technology is where we need it to be to create this film."...ah, they're doing it CGI, huh? Will miss the handdrawn element from back in the day....

Hopefully this Craig Schulz knows what he's doing. Being related is one thing...working out the plot to satisfy the nostalgia/ fan quotient while updating and staying true to character to the Peanuts gang for the 21st century is another...

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Mink's forehead is almost identical to Charlie's?

Make Peppermint Patty and Marcie rape Lucy, and I'd watch (f*ck... I'd help!).

Whatever, as long as they never make a Calvin & Hobbes movie. There's no way they could do the comic justice.

A Calvin and Hobbes film will never get made, that's true, because Watterson is a d*ck, and even if it did, I think they'd get the voices totally wrong.

a Calvin and Hobbes movie wont ever happen. Bill Watterson has adamantly fought the idea of merchandising his art in anyway.

If this ends up being CGI, I am pulling for the murder of all people involved in the making of it.

I know Watterson isn't down with merchandising. The only officially licensed Calvin and Hobbes merchandise was a calander from the 90s or something.

But after he dies...might be up for grabs. I think Watterson even said the reason he never wanted to do a show/movie was because he couldn't imagine hearing Calvin's voice. It'd be a terrible idea.
