Disney has unveiled new photos for their big-budget "The Lone Ranger" film, starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer. Hammer will premiere the trailer tomorrow on "The Tonight Show." So expect for it to appear online shortly after. Check out the photos below.

Plot: Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice.

The new movie is directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) and co-stars Helena Bonham Carter, William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson and Barry Pepper. It's set to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2013.

I really hate that f*cking bird. Looks absolutely stupid. Can't they figure out something else?

You have to understand, the bird is a deeply rooted symbolic piece designed to reflect the character's intricate wisdom and special ability to see what others can not.

But mainly its there because Depp doesn't give a f*ck and these coke snorting rich Hollywood donkey f*ckers think its amusing.

Lol.

So based on those pictures that crow isn't just sitting there, quietly sh*tting on Depp's head. Motherf*cker also reacts to things.

Looks positively LSD so far. Still think Verbinski has one of the best eyes for visuals out there. Also can go over budget like no other.

It'll probably suck ass, but I'm a Lone Ranger fan, I'll see this provided it doesn't look to juevenile in the trailer. Hated every single one of the Pirate movie though, so I'll probably pass. Digging the fake beak on Depp though.
Mudders writes:

i think globally this is gonna bomb

im not sure how "the lone ranger" is marketed elsewhere overseas but here in nz its not even something thats mentioned anywhere

its very.....american...too american for the rest of the world to care about i think

the only reason this will get watched is johnny depp....actually come to think of it,he didnt help "dark shadows" at all

on american shores the history of the lone ranger will get bums on seats...globally...we dont care
Kurskij writes:

@mudders

Doesn't look like they're betting on brand awareness anywhere outside the US.

Disney hopes Verbinski/Depp/Bruckheimer will do for western genre what they did for Pirates (no one gave a f*ck about Pirates for close to 40 years before POTC came out).

And they better be right, now that the budget hit $250 mil. and they built trains for that.
minkowski writes:

Don't see this working, especially not as a new franchise as I imagine Disney hopes. Not much room to do much storywise either. A train robbery here, a cow rustling there, that's about it.

And Johnny Depp I understand is there to provide the comic relief as he did in Pirates, where Arnie Hammer, a releative nobody is there for the younger hipper crowd who saw themselves in The Social Network, but who besides a few care about Hammer or for that matter, who sees him as a lead? Much better would have been Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds or some other Ryan that get's the women wet.

As for the bird, that's cool. Must be a pleasure to never have to feed the bird or pick your nose.
minkowski writes:

"And they better be right, now that the budget hit $250 mil. and they built trains for that."

Sure they did, and they built boats for Pirates and Cameron made huge realistic ship sets for Titanic. Seems a waste when they could have used real vintage trains, or CGI'ed them at a fraction of the cost, and then they'll recycle them for a ride or other films, so not a total waste, but you won't hear any of that when The Lone Ranger goes John Carter, and I'm going to laugh if it does because that'll be two massively-budgeted bombs from the same arrogant, stupid studio.

I just don't see another Pirates happening here, even though Depp is onboard, so to peak, with Verbinsky, and the commitment to set and art direction is comparable.

"Seems a waste when they could have used real vintage trains, or CGI'ed them at a fraction of the cost, and then they'll recycle them for a ride or other films"

They intended to - that's why Disney stopped the production like what, 3 times? Before major playaz agreed to cut salaries.

It balooned back to $250 reportedly exactly because Verbinski, when the shooting started, felt his hands untied and said "f*ck vintage trains, I want my very own".

That made up for some very unpleasant meetings for Ole Jerry's ass and Mickey Mouse peenus at Disney production meetings me thinks.

Gore let the guy down big time - after Prince of Persia and Sorcerers Apprentice Jerry can hardly afford another underperformer without seeing his deal severely cut. Good thing he has 25 CSI's to back him up.

"but who besides a few care about Hammer or for that matter, who sees him as a lead? Much better would have been Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds or some other Ryan that get's the women wet"

Just shows you how desperate Hollywood is to find new draws among pretty boys.

Kitsch, Worthington, Hammer, Pine, Reynolds, Gosling, Cooper, Tatum, Hardy.

Only Reynolds, Pine, Cooper and Tatum proved to be any kinds of draws. Out of those only Tatum and Cooper showed that they can open a movie by themselves.

Hardy and Gosling seem more interested in less commercial parts, same with Cooper lately.

Hemsworth is yet unproven.

Can't remember who said it, I believe it was Cameron, followed by Stallone - that there's a great shortage of guys who can hold their own on screen compared to old school movie stars.

Cameron followed that with advising McG to cast Worthington in Terminator because "Boy has the chops and presence to hold his own against Bale". Go figure.
