Ivan Reitman on "Ghostbusters 3" and "Twins" Sequel

Ivan Reitman on "Ghostbusters 3" and "Twins" SequelSubmit Comment
While promoting the Blu-release of his 1993 comedy "Dave," director Ivan Reitman spoke about some of the new films he's working on, including "Ghostbusters 3" and "Triples," which is a sequel to Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Twins."

Regarding "Ghostbusters 3," Reitman hinted that it will be more of a reboot than a direct sequel. "I think 'Ghostbusters' probably should be remade, if we can get it all right. We're working on it, so we'll see." We previously heard that the movie will focus on a new team and will not see the return of Bill Murray.

Regarding "Triples," Reitman confirmed that there have been discussions, but the story about introducing Eddie Murphy as the lost triplet to Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, may not be the actual plot. "There's no writer, and there's no idea yet," he explained. "I think [the Eddie Murphy announcement] was more of a press release than anything else."

Dan Aykroyd just threw up all over himself.

Yah. I'm of the mind that Ghostbusters is the LAST f*cking film that would require rebooting. I think that there is a lot want for a follow up, because these guys are still f*cking hilarious. Bill Murray has had a huge surge in popularity among younger crowds.

Murray isn't even doing the f*cking movie.

You have no movie without Murray. You'd have to try for a reboot. I for one would give a sh*t about a ghostbusters sequel without Bill Murray.

f*ck this idea. f*ck Ivan Reitman, hasn't done anything even remotely watchable in over a decade.

f*ck you, don't touch Ghostbusters. Terrible terrible f*cking idea. I hate everything right now.

Triples? Well, since your making sequels that no one wants to see, Ivan, why don't you go find the rock Debra Winger has been living under and make "Legal Eagles 2". Dumbf*ck.

I'll be mighty ticked if they make a Ghostbusters movie without Bill Murray!

Ghostbusters is one of those movies that should NEVER be Remake.. Like:

Godfather
Scarface (even tho it's a remake)
Casablanca
gone with the wind
Back to the future

Just a few movies their that i would f*cking hate to see remade..

Really, Reitman? No Harold and no Bill, no point. As for Triples, fantastic idea, really run with that, give Eddie something to do for the next ten years other than trannies. Quads, introducing Ken Jeong and Quints introducing Steve Gutenberg.

In other words, Ivan Reitman, who was last remotely relevant back when Bill Clinton hadn't yet used a cigar as a dildo, says his silly sequel to Twins, which will employ a black 'comedian' from the age of Michael Jackson's 'Beat It', a short fat man that hasn't seen real work since he played Tim Burton's Penguin, and Schwarzenegger, who looks like the wax museum version of himself after sitting in the sun for a year, isn't working out as planned, no sh*t, and his Ghostbusters sequel is now more of a reboot, as I rightly suggested, because Murray thinks far too highly of himself to allow Reitman to recycle Ghostbusters into a platform of self-serving cinematic welfare by tricking people into paying into a long-defunct and largely forgotten two-film 'franchise'.

Just because effects are helluva lot better in these moden times, it doesn't give Hollywood the right to go through every single, godforsaken idea the world has ever seen, and revamp it for a new audience.
A remake needs to have a good reason to be made (i.e. Dredd), and a movie like Scarface is like 40 years post-original, plus the Palma one is far more memorable than the 30's one.
How do the fans, all at once, tell Hollywood what they really feel? It seems like they are making films for themselves, and not the people they claim to aim them at.
2 in 10 successful reboots/remake can't possibly be good business?

"Damn that Trigax guy is f*cking mad! You gonna cry?"

Shut the f*ck up rubber doll troll.

"A remake needs to have a good reason to be made (i.e. Dredd)"

Yeah, Dredd. lol. Yeah that one didn't bomb worse than any remake I, or you, can imagine, now did it?

Still laughing.

@Mink
Well, I suppose that wasn't the best of examples coming from the top of my head.
Bang!, you got me.
President Baltar writes:

What I mean is, it's a film for a potential remake, while Hollywood spew out remakes of any film they can get their grubby hands on, not wondering if it needs a remake, and apparently not wondering if they will make money either. Maybe Dredd just came out at a time, when fans are finally boycotting remakes, at the one film the shouldn't?
