Disney Explains Why "The Avengers" Death Scene Was AlteredPosted: September 18th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
We just learned that the UK version of "The Avengers" will be released in stores with a major scene altered. There were many assumptions as to why Marvel would do that, and all of them turned out to be wrong.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
In the scene, Agent Coulson is stabbed in the back with a spear, the blade of which rips through his chest, killing him. But in the UK version, the blade never comes out of the chest. According to Disney, this wasn't a mistake or censorship, this is exactly what UK movie-goers saw in theaters.
"There's been no censorship, no foul play. The version of Marvel's 'Avengers Assemble' on Blu-ray disc in the UK is the same as the version shown theatrically," explained the studio. "The simple fact is for a 12 certificate film in the UK, that scene was deemed inappropriate. So Marvel Studios chose to remove the spear tip digitally."
In other words, censorship removed the spear for theatrical showings, but no extra censorship was used for the Blu-ray.

I don't know if it's related to the fact that many young thugs or innocent teens are stabbed to death in some streets of London...

What a lame excuse! Digitally removing something inappropriate is also called as censoring.

Remove the spear tip digitally or not, Coulson is still dead, and I mourn.
Not really. But seriously... who gives a f*ck about this?!

Look at the poster.
It seems the actors are stacked on it based on amounts of $'s they were paid.

Except Jackson. I'm sure he was paid more than a few on the team. But he's back there... I don't know, maybe whitey the artist stuck him back there because he was black.

It's not censorship, not as you intend to imply, anyway, if a company decides to alter *their* product to conform to the expectation(s) of the intended audience.
In fact, this would be called 'self-censorship', and people, even individuals, engage is self-censorship everyday.
Grow up.

It's not censorship in the sense Alex and idiots like you understand the concept.
You think because some company didn't include some gratuitous gore or some tit shot, your 'right' to such material has been infinged, and god help the world when an adult child doesn't get his baba of media milk.
Thus, the reason why I differentiated (oooh, scary big word!) between censorship and self-censorhip.
Fact is, it's THEIR property. They change it the way they like, for whomever, just as I can trim my hedges to conform to expected neighborhood standards, which is exactly what happened here.
But why worry? I'm sure you already have the DVD and BuRay, like a good little consumer slave, so why the f*ck are you crying?
Grow the f*ck up, stupid faggot child.

And oh yes, Scott Baiowulf. How droll. Because the Germanic epic poem and some goofy little queer sitcom actor from the 1980s have anything to do with one another.
God damned idiot children and their keyboards. Like a toddler with one of those Fisher-Price xylophones.
