Michael Keaton Replaces Hugh Laurie as "RoboCop" Villain

Michael Keaton Replaces Hugh Laurie as "RoboCop" VillainSubmit Comment
It was recently reported that "House" star Hugh Laurie was in negotiations to play the villainous CEO of Omni Corp in the upcoming "RoboCop" reboot. His character creates RoboCop for the company's own gain.

Then came word that Laurie dropped out and MGM was in talks with a small group of actors to replace him, including Clive Owen. And now, director Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) has confirmed that the role went to Michael Keaton (Batman, Beetlejuice). "Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place," said the helmer.

The new movie stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Abie Cornish. It's set to begin shooting this summer for an August 9th, 2013 release.

I'm going to laugh when this movie flops and Padilha goes back to making Brazilian snuff and crunch films.

"It's set to begin shooting this summer for an August 9th, 2013 release."

Summer's about done, MGM, and so are you. By the way, where's 'Red Dawn'?

NOW I have a reason to watch this failure. Good ol' Michael Keaton stole The Other Guys in a few minutes and he's gonna do it here again for sure.

So they are going to start filming the summer of 2013 when the movie is set to release August 9, 2013? That makes no sense at all

If this movie is PG13 like that sh*tty Robocop 3 I am going to be so pissed. Robocop 1 and 2 were awesome.
rockkillers writes:

just waiting for them to slap the pg13 rating on this so I can be the first to say how much this movie will suck. Everyone will disagree saying how it could be good than when it's released everyone will see it will suck worse than the total recall and live free or die soft remakes. SMH.

Deaft0ne writes:

After this movie sucks and bombs worse than TOTAL REMAKE, people will consider even the crappy RoboCop TV series and TV movies to be good compared to this sh*t. At least those didn't f*ck with the suit!

Keating? Thought he retired or had been put out to pasture on TV somewhere like all the other washed up 80s stars. This has got to be a joke right?

@bando

Desperate Measures was solid for what it is. Also, Keaton was in better shape that he was in Batman.

@sac, bane

Seriously, should we call someone? DEA perhaps.
