Joss Whedon to Write and Direct "SHIELD" TV Series

Joss Whedon to Write and Direct "SHIELD" TV SeriesSubmit Comment
Marvel recently signed Joss Whedon to write and direct "The Avengers" sequel and also develop other superhero projects for the studio, including a television series. Now comes word that Marvel and Whedon have teamed with ABC for a live-action "SHIELD" TV series.

The new show will be written by Whedon, who will also direct the pilot episode. Production is set to start immediately. This marks a return to television for Whedon, who created such cult favorites as "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," "Firefly," and "Dollhouse."

"SHIELD" is ran by Nick Fury, who recruited Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, and Thor to join his agents to fight Loki in "The Avengers." No word if Nick Fury will be one of the characters in the TV series or whether Samuel L. Jackson will be involved.

No Sam Jackson, it'll be sh*t series.

I could see it getting done. Small name actors or unknowns being used, plot driven, & action/SFX scenes, visiting with B-D level villains & superheroes of the Marvel Universe.

Plus, the "boob tube" shows are Whedon's bread & butter. The beauty is it appears he can handle it. Sh!t, he directed an independent film while he was filming a blockbuster!!

It's gonna ended up just like Firefly. It's gonna be great and then cancelled after one season because of the high cost.

Never liked Whedon's tv shows, but after the Avengers and Cabin In the Woods (which was even better imo) I'm willing to give him a chance.

ABC? Why the f*ck go with a Big Three network? Why? f*ck. How about THIS. Marvel/Disney should be the first to offer net-only tv. Put the show on internet pay-per-view, skip federal regs and make the show dark and hard.

"cancelled after one season because of the high cost."

Serenity, IIRC, was cancelled because of low viewer ratings, not cost, as '24' cost FOX upwards of 4 mil an ep, and that show went on for 8 seasons...

Wow, I went looking for the above quote in Google, which is from GI JOE The Movie, and I found this, which, if you read the definition, really does describe this place.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiral_of_silence

"Spiral of silence theory describes the process by which one opinion becomes dominant as those who perceive their opinion to be in the minority do not speak up because they fear isolation from society."

Funny how often what I think is already extant thanks to someone 'smarter'.

*sigh*

Oh. And Whedon. Die already. Avengers was good, but you're not f*cking Paul Anderson, and Cabin in the Woods was f*cking stupid, Serenity was boring as f*ck, Firefly was decent mostly thanks to the music imo, and Dollouse sounds like DarkJB's 'Identity'-like brain. Lots of empty rooms, one annoying echo.

^^"Who's", not "whose", and you should say "who WILL", not who IS. Negates having to say "going to".

Illiterate dumb ass retarded kid (DARK).

@Dark: you should adopt my avatar. All the trolls should do the same. It would be like in The Matrix: Reloaded and Revolutions wherein Agent Smith turns everyoe into a copy of himself, spreading across the Matrix, except the matrix here would be WorstPreviews. Supremely annoying to the powers that be, huh? Subversively awesome.

'Figures of speech' typically make sense, Dark, unless you're Biff Tannen and you think you're "funnier than a screen door on a battleship"...

Idiot.
