"Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" Movie Hires "National Treasure" Writers

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune Movie Hires National Treasure WritersSubmit Comment
At one point, Mark Wahlberg was set to star in a big screen version of "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" video game, to be directed by his "The Fighter" helmer David O Russell.

After a few interviews, it became clear that Russell was clueless about the game and ended up dropping out of the project. Neil Burger (Limitless) quickly stepped in to replace him. That was over a year ago.

Variety has now learned that Burger is no longer attached, but Sony Pictures is still interested in turning the property into a feature film. To keep things moving, the studio has hired "National Treasure" writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley to pen the script. The duo also wrote "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and are the creators of USA Network's "Common Law" series.

Uncharted is probably the greatest video game franchise in history. It is literally like playing a movie. We don't need a movie that we can't play. What us fans want is just another game.

If youre 'clueless' then get a f*ckin clue

It sounds like theyr tryin to make a movie just for the f*ck of it without putting any effort into research and development

Not a bad writer for what it is. Though I don't know why the people who wrote the game script can't write it....... Wahlberg, please be out of this, you are the wrong choice.

Sounds like a BIG failure.
Why not ask the creators of the game for help writing the screenplay?
And that f*cking guy Mark Wahlberg as Nathan Drake.. No. Just no. Drop it already.

Well they did two movies where some guy went looking for treasure, so this should be pretty much a walk in the proverbial park. They won't even have to pay much attention to the game, just follow the general formula from National Treasure one and two. Get a big star to lead the film and a hot actress to co-star. Throw in a favorite older guy for the villain. Walken, if he's still alive, or Liam. Bank.

Couldn't be any worse than Battleship.

Nathan Fillion for Drake!
But come on, why would anyone think to hire the National Treasure writers for any film other than National Treasure 3 (which hopefully never happens)?

Nathan Fillion would, however, need to drop a few pounds, gained through his cushy job at 'Castle'
