LL Cool J's Burglar Faces Life in Prison

Posted: August 24th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
LL Cool JSubmit Comment
We recently reported that LL Cool J stopped a burglar by getting out of bed, walking downstairs and beating the hell out of him. The actor/rapper held the intruder until police arrived. And before dropping him off at jail, police first took him to the hospital, where he was treated for a broken nose and jaw.

Now comes word that the burglar is 56-year-old Jonathan A. Kirby, and he has been charged with first degree burglary with a person present. To make things worse, he was also chard as a Third Strike Offender, which means that if he's convicted, he will face a maximum of 38 years to life in prison.

Kirby is a transient and may be suffering from mental illness. Prosecutors asked the judge to set his bail at $1.1 million.

So glad I don't live in America with this crazy third strike system I would be in prison right now writing poems on a bit of toilet paper.

I can't go on,
there is no hope,
for in the shower,
I dropped the soap. :(

"56 years old, at least he's lost his sex appeal"

You stole that from The Rock.

@cinema; f*cking funny poem, dude.

"So glad I don't live in America with this crazy third strike system I would be in prison right now writing poems on a bit of toilet paper."

I think this is from California, where, in general, the attitude with respect to the homeless and crazy isn't "oh, we're 'progressive', we'll get you some rehabilitation and medication", it's "we're going to beat the sh*t out of you and then throw you in prison, and that's if and only if we don't suicide you during the arrest".

Pretty much like Texas in that respect.

that's kinda f*cked... i know you guys are gonna get me, but is that not a little too harsh? especially if they have a mental illness.
BadChadB33 writes:

Mink- That is from The Rock isn't it? lol That's funny.
Ranger writes:

@Tanman - true. If he has a TRUE 'mental illness' then he's fallen through the cracks and society hasn't taken care of him (I for one believe in a Soylent Green program, but that's another topic for a different time). Now, if he's playing the mental illness card to stay out of work and in shelters. Then he'll deserve to be ass-raped along with his free meals at John Q. Taxpayers expense.
Ranger writes:

And where the law has failed the tax-paying public is this 3-strike bullsh*t. WHY should someone only get into REAL trouble after 3 f*cking break-ins?! If he's crying mental illness, or was diagnosed with it after this first arrest... lock him up in a mental facility. 3x offender. Jesus... if he had the wits about him, maybe he only broke in so he could get into jail and off the streets. But the 3x offender joke rule... what's to stop a perp from then going on a murder spree? Hey... killing a dozen people and getting 300 years is the same as a guy this age getting almost 50 years for breaking-in.
