"The Hobbit" Ticket Prices Won't Go Up for 48 FPS Screenings

Posted: August 23rd, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"The Hobbit" Ticket Prices WonSubmit Comment
"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" will be presented at both the 24fps (frames per second) And 48 fps. A normal movie is shown at 24 fps, but our eyes can see at much higher frame rates, which means that 48 fps will give you a smoother, clearer picture.

Unfortunately, that idea backfired when Peter Jackson premiered the first ten minutes of "The Hobbit," which many movie-fans complaining that it looked too much like a cheap soap opera. As a result, Warner Bros will now release the 48 fps version in select theaters, while the 24 fps movie will get the wide release.

And even though theaters tend to charge more money for things like these, Warners revealed that it will not raise ticket prices for the higher frame rate screenings. Jackson himself has insisted on this in order to encourage people to see the 48 fps version. The goal is for the entire film industry to move to the higher frame rate, but it will take a while for audience members to gets used to the clearer picture.

Sure some paid extra for 3D. But why the hell don't they make the distinction (I know... because fans rarely do), and no that fans couldn't care less about 48fps? I don't need to ask if Hollywood is that out of touch.

If anything is going to make me want to see this it isn't the story it will be the 48 FPS , I mean goddamn- americans are some whiny bitches . The higher frame rate should add more depth to the image without being 3D and clarity with tight shots moving faster . Think if Bay used this in Transformers 2 and 3 ( not because they are cinematic wonders ) with some of the fight scenes you would had been able to distinguish what the hell was going on instead of the blur fest that it was . I'm sure people complained when movies went from Talkies to actual sound recorded of said actors on film performing / speaking .

I'll give 48 FPS a shot. I absolutely would not pay more for it since that's absurd. Once upon a time when movies were actually placed onto film it may make sense to increase the price a bit but these days they can f*ck off.

I'm hoping they take a lesson from the giant debacle with is 3D. Forcefully shoving it down everyone's throats isn't going to be the way to make everyone say "oh you were right. I do want that." 3D will end, the exact same way it started: as a stupid f*cking idea.
